GORGEOUS.
I stalled on getting this powder for the LONGEST time, even though I heard nothing but good things.. it took me a minute to justify the price. I took a shopping trip to Chicago a month ago and finally bit the bullet and I'm SO happy I did. It makes my skin GLOW! Not a glittery glow.. but a flawless complexion glow. I can't believe how good it makes my makeup look and works with all of my foundations and concealers. So so so happy I finally own this!! It's 100% worth the money.
I was really interested in trying out this powder, because I've heard quite a few good things about it and I've had a hard time finding a setting powder that does not cake up easily or clog my pores.
I ended up picking the Translucent shade, because it's the safest for any shade of foundation that I own (incase I change color summer-winter wise). First off, like with most loose powder products, the jar was not completely full of product, but in the case of La Mer The Powder, it was less than half full, which threw me off quite a bit. Not only is the jar fairly small and very thick (which makes the inside of the jar even smaller, hence less product), but it's not even halfway full. I understand that they sell by weight, but it's such a pet peeve and makes me feel like I am being ripped off. This is definitely a con for me.
The wearability of this is pretty decent. I have oily combination skin, with super oily forehead, and I can go about 5 hours with this stuff on without sweating it off. In summer, however, the time is shorter. I prefer to keep this as a fall-winter product.
I am unsure about the other shades, but the Transparent shade has a shimmer to it, so you will have a bit of sparkles on your face. Depending on the situation, this may be okay or not - I definitely prefer to wear something else if I am going to an interview, but I don't mind the sparkle if I am out with my friends or just around.
So, do I think it is worth it for $65? Personally, I will not be repurchasing it again. When I purchased it, I did not pay full price for it, so it is comparable to the rest of the products with a similar price tag. For me, the wear is not worth paying so much for it, especially since I found something that lasts me full 8 hours (YSL Pressed Powder). I will keep using this until I've used it up, but that's that.
Holy Grail Goodness!
Available in 4 shades - Translucent, Creme, Neutral and Beige. I picked Translucent because the sheerness compliments most skin tones, and most importantly, my foundations.
The powder is exceptionally light; the particles literally floats on the skin; it doesn't settles on my fine lines or pores. When blended, it gives off a blurry effect which acts like an optical diffuser and gives off the illusion of seamless complexion.
