As amazing as I remember it
Been a long time since purchasing this foundation. I remember the first time years ago I was nearing the end of summer and the shade was just passed the point of matching me as my tan had fully set in. Because of that, I didn’t appreciate or even pay attention to whether it was a good complexion product. Several months later- the following February or so- my skin had lightened again so I pulled this out and I tried. AMAZED.
This was the first “high-end” foundation I ever gave a try. Glad I had the delay though- I had sampled several other mid range formulas so when I got Kevyn Aucoin back in my routine I could genuinely notice and *see* the difference.
The finish is beautiful. It’s luminous and that’s the only word I can think of to describe it. Not shimmery or anything like that- just not flat or drab in the way many inexpensive formulas are. It looks like healthy skin and with an ethereal medium coverage as the name says. It’s also buildable without losing its gentility.
This product is what I use as my standard of comparison for all luxe and higher end formulas from now on. I’ve tried many many other great-reviewed foundations since discovering this years ago but now that I’ve come back to try this again- it is as amazing to me as I remember. It refreshes my memory as a standard and I recall instantly that something extra I see in this formula that made me fall in love.
I won’t try convincing you this one is the best or better than your favorite, but I’ll say if you want a medium (super)natural matte finish-try it and you will not be disappointed
not for large pores
i wanted to like this but it didnt minimize my pores like some other foundations do...It was ok but its not worth the price for me and it didnt make my skin look as nice as it shouldve.
My favorite foundation. It photographs beautifully so it’s very nice for special occasions. I use it when I need my skin to look its best. The finish is a lovely satin with a touch of glow, similar to Armani Luminous Silk but more satin than dewy. It blends quickly and easily. Color matching can be confusing- I think it runs light. I’m EF07 which is for medium neutral and I’m NC30 leaning neutral in MAC speak and typically choose light to medium but I’m medium in this foundation. This has a pump which is always a pro. I can’t find any cons for this. I’m normal to dry but well hydrated and I think this could work for normal to oily skin as well. I’m on my 3rd bottle and I have a lot of foundations so that tells you how much I enjoy this.
Great for Dry Skin!
I've tried A LOT of foundations. My skin is very dry, and most foundations make my skin look cakey, especially in my dry spots.
This is the first foundation I've tried that actually makes my skin look better instead of worse. It doesn't cake on my dry patches.
The coverage is light to medium, which is great. I don't like heavy coverage.
My only complaint is that the name of the product claims it is "illuminating," which I've not found to be true. It looks glowy going on, but once it dries down, the finish is natural. I don't usually need to powder this, but if I do, this foundation can look almost matte.
Overall a great product for my skin type. Would buy again!
Looks like Skin!
I've always struggled with the oiliness and texture of my skin so I have a hard time finding foundations that look good on me. Kevyn Aucoin's Etherealist is perfect! It doesn't sit on top of my skin or look caky on me, it melts and blends in so effortlessly. I love it!
-buildable, medium to full coverage -skincare properties help to improve skin -wide range of shades -semi matte finish (not too dewy, not too dry!)
