Makes your skin matt but in a dull way for a high price
I'm so picky, damn, and comparing this powder to the La Prairie Cellular Treatment Loose Powder which is my go-to. So, yes, it does mattify – how much of it is due to the fact that is colored (La Prairie is translucent) or to the quality of the product? My feeling is that is the former. It mattifies better than the La Prairie one on my combo skin. When my skin was oilier I might have liked combination of those two products. That's the pro about the Cover FX one.
What I don't like about that product is that it makes my skin look dull – in comparison to the La Prairie one, not to other loose powders I've tried. La Prairie has light reflecting properties to it and that's why it doesn't look dull, it looks healthy. The Cover FX powder is finer milled than a lot of other loose powders but not as fine as... you know. I have to work the Cover FX into my skin more so it's even; don't have to do it with... you know. The Cover FX one slightly dries my undereyes (I'm not baking) but not to badly; the you know what looks and feels better on me.
So, if I wouldn't have known the La Prairie one, I'd given that Cover FX a four star (deduction because the container is messier than some drugstore I've used). However, taking into consideration all the differences and the fact that the Cover FX powder is way more expensive than the La Prairie one (yes, you read that right – La Prairie 46 $ per oz [Nordstorm price, 100 $ for giant 2,2 oz], Cover FX 100 $ per oz), it's a 2 star product for me: does the job but with major downsides in my book.
I use this as a regular old setting powder, applied with a puff or powder brush -- I don't use it for any special techniques, e.g. baking.
It keeps my oily skin at bay, but does not irritate my sensitive/dehydrated skin.
I got this as a deluxe sample on a previous purchase and I still have it. I love how finely milled the powder is and how lovely it looks on my skin. My biggest issue with powders is that they accentuate dry patches and this one definitely does not! I really like this powder and will definitely get a full size one when my sample is over :)
Love love love
I have a hard time finding the right coverage because I have complex skin and my blemishes never end... I was introduced to this almost four months ago and am almost running out because I cannot stop using this product everything I wear makeup I wear this on top of my primer/pour filler then add my foundation and then add a little more on top for a flawless matte look that lasts all day I'll be continuing to buy this for as long as they make it
Absolutely necessary if you use CoverFx
When I first bought CoverFx I was so displeased to see my powder foundation got cakey and miserable as the day progressed. Come to find out, you absolutely need to use the setting powder. Like HAVE TO or your foundation will not stay put. While that does not reflect all that well on the foundation itself, I do love the entire line still because it has truly helped my skin out a bunch as it recovers from using MAC foundation (so sad because I LOVED their foundation coverage and lasting time). The finishing powder looks beautiful and makes the skin look nearly flawless on top of the powder foundation I use. I love it.
Best Ever!
This is my favorite setting powder ever! It's super fine, so it goes on even more sheer than it looks and it helps keep my skin from getting shiny through the day. You only need a little and it lasts forever. I actually use this over a powder foundation and it kind of fills in the texture.
