Lilac Truffle
I have the Lilac Truffle duo and I love it. It gives the perfect amount of coverage to create a natural smokey eye. I hate eye shadows with too much pigmentation when doing a smokey eye because I end up looking like a raccoon. I will be re-buying again very soon.
Comparable to Urban Decay-Quality Eyeshadows
I received this in Beach Plum as part of a gift-with-purchase offer from Clinique/Macys and it instantly became my favorite eyeshadow at the time that I was using it, because it was great quality and I didn't have to buy it!
The texture of the the eyeshadows is soft and silky, that I prefer to apply with my fingers than to use the applicators just because it feels so nice. Both shadows are shimmery, but the pigmentation is so good the shimmer isn't overwhelming! You don't need much to complete the look, and it's best kept that way because the fallout can be a little messy.
Though the colors are limited to two, I personally love gold and violet looks for their versatility on any skin tone and for the ability of gold colors to warm up the eyes and make them pop with color and radiance. The violet color is a great color on the outer corners to create depth to the eyes. This is an easy to use, beautifully-coordinated, great everyday eyeshadow duo for both day and night time looks.
As much as I loved this palette to death when I was in high school, I would rather receive it as a GWP because it's priced at $20 for the duo—although the quality is amazing, the price is very steep. The quads from Clinique offer two more colors for $5 more and are a better value. And there are other shadows on the market other than Clinique, with competitive quality for an even more competitive price.
Easy Does It...
I like the colour combination, the colours definitely work for me. I only use the lighter shade for the corner of my eyes or for right under my eyebrows though...the blackberry is my go-to shade! I wear contact lenses and I notice that the eye shadow doesn't flake into my lashes or eyes either.
Love it!
I have very sensitive skin especially on my eyes so i couldnt believe that when i put it on i didnt react at all, the colors are awesome, great if you just want a little color but also if you really want the color to stand out, & the colors r beautifull. These are my go to eye shadows!
Colour could be more intense
This is for #106 Lilac Truffle. It is not listed but is actually the shade in the picture above.
I have never liked Clinique shadows. They are just not pigmented enough for me. I feel the shiny ones are too frosty. This formula I do like but it could be better. This duo features a frosted lilac all over shade with a fawn satin lining and defining shade.
Using a shadow primer is a must if you want these to last and stay color true. I use the smaller, darker colour with a slightly dampened brush, otherwise it is lost in my eye crease. It's just too neutral for my liking.
I am the biggest advocate for their skincare but their colour, not so much.
