Burt's Bees
Naturally Nourishing Milk & Honey Body Lotion
Reviews
Not Your Typical "All-Natural", Because It's GOOD
I remember I had used this all the time growing up and absolutely LOVED IT! It smells really lovely, like warm milk sweetened with honey. The first time I used it the color sorta freaked me out because it was a weird opaque off white, but the texture is really nice. I like the consistency because a lot of lotions and creams are too thick and heavy, but this is light and absorbable. I like it in the summer because it doesn't weigh me down with oils. It hardly feels or smells like a "herbaly natural" product.
Unique and fun
Let me preface this by saying I got this in a little mini-sampler kit EONS ago. As in early high school, so at least 5 or so years ago. I hadn't really used the kit at all, only here and there, mostly because the products had an all-natural oily feel, and I couldn't get past the texture. When I joined BL, I made it my quest to really give these babies a shot- even if that meant slathering the balms and salves on, before bed. In the past couple of months I started using the samples more than I ever did- but there are plenty more to go. I chucked the ones I rarely use in my MU rejects basket (which I delve into from time to time) and if I STILL can't get past the texture and they're not doing that much for me, I'll gift them or throw them away. I say throw away, only because I've had them for SO LONG, and they are not chock full of preservatives. I honestly don't mind using the samples when they're off though- I can't tell the difference, at least now.
I used the milk and honey from time to time, but then started using the cute little sample bottle more until I finished it. You need to shake it to re-mix the separated oils. I liked the creamy, luscious texture and off white color, and of course the smell. It almost was like a delish pudding! Texture wise, it might have been a little off putting because of the natural oils but I stuck it out and finished the sample. I'm not sure I would get it again, but I will say it is GREAT for winter, or anyone with dry skin. The natural oils really lock in moisture, when you need it most. In winter my hands get so dry they sometimes crack, my boobs/body itches like crazy, my legs are flaky and I'm just super dry and parched. This kind of product really helps that. So, I'll probably get it at some point for nostalgia's sake. I would say this was one of the better samples in my sampler kit, too.
Yummy!
I love how this lotion smells! If you buy the full sized version, it definately lasts a while. I would say this is good for year round on normal skin, if you have very dry skin I would suggest something a bit heavier because this is a slightly light lotion. The one complaint I have is the price because it is a natural product.
I am not at all impressed with this product and I definitely do not feel it’s worth the $6.00 to $8.00 you pay for it depending on the size you purchase. This product is said to be made for normal to dry skin, I have normal skin. It absorbs really quickly and it doesn’t leave me oily. However within a couple of minutes it seems like it dry’s my skin especially my hands I feel it does not provide enough moisture for me. The only thing I like about this product is the smell.
love the smell, absorbs quickly
I love using lotion, especially in winter when my skin can get dry. I hate, however, when lotion sits on your skin feeling moist or greasy. I put this on after showering, and it absorbs into my skin quickly (after a few minutes), leaving it super soft, smelling good, and not feeling like there's lotion on it - it just feels moisturized. I love it!
Who doesn't want to smell like milk and honey?
Uhh, well sometimes I don't. Not sure what it is about the fragrance of this lotion but I can only handle it sometimes. It's definitely going to remain in the rotation, though. What I like about it is that it's super light and doesn't get filmy or rollie-pollie if you're massaging it in for a while. That tells me my skin is really absorbing the product. And like all Burt's stuff, I love that it's mostly organic and not tested on the maminals.
