Beauty Product Reviews
Meh, average.
The bronzer is currently on sale at urbandecay.com for $12 but originally it costs $24. I'm not a huge fan of this bronzer just because Gilded is way too sparkly for me and it just isn't the best bronzer I've used. There's a lot of fall out from the bronzer and I don't get the color I want to look "bronzed". I'm just not a fan-this is average and it's not worth $24 or even $12 for me.
Sparkle, sparkle
I love Orgasm. I really do. The color is gorgeous and the pigmentation is perfection. However, the sparkles. Oh the sparkles. There it just too much sparkle for me. I am not a sparkles girl. I love matte colors. Glitter freaks me out sometimes unless I'm doing a smokey eye. However, for those glitter and sparkle lovers out there-this is perfect for you. Orgasm looks gorgeous on a variety of skin tones and because the pigmentation truly is perfection, you don't need a lot to get the color you desire. However, NARS isn't the cheapest makeup brand nor the most affordable so this is definitely a splurge item.
Go forth ladies and get your sparkle on.
Wishful thinking
I have very fine Asian hair. It's straight as a pin, thin as paper, and ridiculously flat. I had hoped that the spin pins would save whatever faith I had left in my ability or potential to style my hair but unfortunately, they don't. I don't know if it's just me or the specific spin pins I got, but whenever I try to make a bun with them or style my hair, they'll fall out. They don't seem to hold a bun in place or stay in my hair at all. Although they work some times, they don't work the majority of the time so it's a big frustrating. I love the idea of the spin pins. I just don't love the darn spin pins. I'm giving this product a 3 out of 5 rating for innovation and from reading the other reviews, it seems like it works for most people. Maybe I'm just unlucky
Coveted, with good reason.
Before I had the Naked palette, it was coveted. Since I got the Naked palette, it's still coveted. This palette is a must have for a beginner, an amateur or even a professional MUA. It is a neutral little piece of heaven for anyone and everyone who is a makeup junkie. I remember standing at the cash register at Sephora, holding the little black bag that held the Naked palette as I waited for the cashier to give me back my change. Yes, I wanted it that badly and yes, I have a major problem. But the colors are amazing! The staying power is long lasting and perfect. The pigments are well... pigmented and beautiful. But beware of the shimmery colors, they tend to have lots of glitter fall out so unless you want your cheeks to look like a bejeweled mess, prepare yourself accordingly for the fall out. I am not a fan of the Karma brush though. It does a decent job of picking up color but that's all it does. I'd rather much have the Zero Eyeliner it used to have but alas, that probably won't happen any time soon. But this palette has a special place in my hair and I love it to death. If I could, I'd sleep with it under my pillow every night.
See, I told you I had a problem
Old packaging, new perfection
The reason why I'm giving this kit 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the useless stencils. I have the infamous Korean eyebrows which are very straight, not so much angled eyebrows. The stencils do nothing for me. But not only do they do nothing for me, they seem to just be so useless and well, ineffective on everyone else I've used this kit on or my fellow beauty junkies who also have this kit. We all have thrown away the stencils because we just don't find them useful at all. Instead of giving us stencils, I'd prefer something else in the kit. BUT, other than the stencils, I love this kit! I found it at a local beauty store and since it is the older packaging, I got it on sale! Yay! The colors are perfect for my eyebrows since I have dark eyebrows and the wax does a great job in keeping my hairs in place since my eyebrows can get unruly and very bushy. And this gives me a lot more control over exactly how thick I want my brows to be and how dark I want them to look. I can easily have very dark eyebrows or very light eyebrows with just a few adjustments in colors so I find this kit very versatile and easy to use, not just on me but anyone. I don't hair for the angled brush since it's obviously cheaply made but the wand and pencil are decent. They aren't the best but they get the job done. I definitely recommend this kit to anyone and everyone. I never knew my eyebrows could look so darn fabulous!
Here's an actual review of the kit on my blog and pictures as well: http://melsusu.blogspot.com/2011/08...
Blase Apricot
The Revlon Moon Drops Creme lipsticks are great! I have the color Blase Apricot and I will be purchasing tons more in the near future. This lipstick has a GREAT staying power and I am infamous for never having my lipstick last just because I'm so unaware of when it comes off when I'm doing other things throughout my day. But this lipstick really does wonders! As for the conditioning power... I wouldn't say it's very conditioning. It has a nice, smooth texture to it but I find myself always needing to put chapstick on or after I put the lipstick on just because I don't like the feeling I have while it's on my lips. But other than that, I have absolutely no complains about this lipstick! It's a definite keeper in my book!
Lovely but not quite
Nude Attitude is not my favorite lipstick nor will it ever be. It has a great staying power especially with me since I never seem to have lipstick last on me because I'm a complete mess. BUT it doesn't really give me the moisturized lips I'm so fond of. I don't necessarily find it drying per say but when it goes onto my lips and say I didn't put chapstick on right beforehand, you can see every single crevice in my lips. EVERY SINGLE ONE. And I really do not find that flattering at all. So I find myself always putting chapstick on beforehand and then a lip gloss after I apply the lipstick. Nude Attitude is one of the few matte nude lipsticks I have been able to find so I'll hold onto this for a little bit until something better comes along. But the color really is pigmented so it can easily wash someone out if they put too much of it on or don't mix it with another color to give them a less washed out look. Be wary of nude lipsticks unless you know how to work them, especially this one because it really is NUDE.
Great Scott
Great Scott, I never, ever knew my lashes could look like this without fake eyelashes. Wow. I just simply curl my eye lashes with a curler, put two coats of this baby on and then I look like I have the most amazing, biggest, longest eye lashes ever! How did I live without this mascara before? I am amazed! A neat trick I learned to really curl your eye lashes with an eye lash curler is to heat it up slightly with a blow dryer and then using the slightly warm eye lash curler to curl your lashes! It really does work and holds a curl well without mascara but The Colossal mascara helps out A LOT. I have almost non-existent lashes and this has done wonders for me. It's a very thin and seemingly watery consistency and it takes a little bit to dry but it's totally worth it. It really does lift my lashes and give them unreasonable volume so I am so very pleased with my products. I'll never use another mascara. I'm in love.
Gorgeous & Affordable!
I purchased Jane's quilted blush in Rose Satin from Nordstrom's Rack for under $4. I didn't expect too much from the blush since I am not familiar with Jane products and I wasn't able to swatch the product in the store since it was packaged in a way that I wouldn't be able to. But I am pleasantly surprised with the color. Rose Satin is a gorgeous peach/coral/pink blush that goes on easily. You don't need too much color for it to show up on your cheeks. However, for the swatch, to really show what the color is like in person, I did have to swatch it and layer it a few times to make the photo true to it's color. It definitely is a great blush and looks gorgeous on! Such a bargain for such a pretty color and for good quality!
Fantastic!
This eyeliner really is waterproof! I purchased this eyeliner in Star which is a white color so that I could use it as an alternate for the NYX jumbo pencil in Milk. And they were on sale at Ulta for $3.50 so the price is reasonable as well. The eyeliner applies on smoothly and it does have a decent lasting power that makes it an ideal liner to use for your waterline. I haven't used it as a base as I would NYX's Milk but I'll definitely try it out in the near future and update this review once I do. But it's definitely a great liner and I need to go back to Ulta to get more!
