Beauty Product Reviews
This is a great toner. I like how strong it is--great for taking out excess oils and soothing any active acne, not so great if skin is very dry. It really helps bring my skin back into balance after being very stressed or simply after treating with cleansers and masks.
My sister uses the Acne Stress Control line to ease her law-school related skin troubles and I can tell it helps her skin out a whole lot during finals or on a night where her workload has intensified.
It's not my favorite toner out of the ones I've tried, but it does the job.
I love this product for a daily cleanser, and I find that after a period of oil build-up, especially on vacation in humid areas or after a workout, this is the product that does such a good job of taking away the oils without drying my skin. It leaves my skin feeling nice and soft and I feel like I can cheat and not always use a moisturizer after.
As far as a mask, it is nice and tingly but actually doesn't do much if you have acne or severely damaged skin.
The only other fault in this product is that it is 8 bucks at Target, and I ain't always down with that.
This product definitely does not work for everyone. But, if you don't have skin extremes (very dry, very oily, highly blemished skin), then this might just work for you as a great basic cleanser. Emphasis on basic.
It will work well with a Clarisonic if you have one of those on hand as it doesn't contain any physical exfoliants. Otherwise, it's not special, and it's not completely horrible. But of course you'd have to try it to see if you agree.
I love this mask. And 'love' may be an understatement of sorts. More like borderline obsessed. This is the first mask I tried from Lush and it's the mask I go back to time and time again to spoil myself. This mask:
1. is an amazing exfoliant. 2. smells brilliant. 3. leaves the skin feeling soft and smooth. 4. gives the skin great radiance.
I just can't get enough of this mask.
At first I didn't like this mask at all. I'm not sure if I got a bad pot, but I just felt like it didn't do anything for my skin. I thought that my skin not being oily was the reason for it not working. There's a reason it's targeted to those with oily skin. But I don't think you need to have highly troubled skin in order to love this face mask. I love it for a deep clean-up of the skin--the kind of clean a basic cleanser alone can't do. It does a great job in removing the excess oils from the skin while softening the surface.
My skin felt nice and smooth, but mostly squeaky clean and fresh. For me it's not overly drying, but I always follow up with a moisturizer as a rule of thumb.
But really, if you are fighting acne but still want to treat yourself with a nice mask, this might just be the one.
Yeah, the smell is pretty off. The mixture of tea tree oil and garlic doesn't produce the most pleasing of scents. To be honest, the smell can be a big turn off. But of course, that's not to say that this product doesn't do wonders for the skin. I'm not one to break out often, but if/when I do it's pretty bad. And if it so happens that I have Cosmetic Warrior on hand, I can count on it to really soothe my skin and get rid of the excess bacteria and grime.
My sister who is on the quest to find her holy grail moisturizer gave me her pot of Imperialis being unsatisfied with the product. I would say I have normal/combo skin and it worked fine for me without being overly moisturizing or oily. It was also very soothing on my chin and jaw areas where I regularly shave. Texture wise, I think it has the right amount of slip while still being thick enough not to get all over the place, and it didn't take forever to absorb.
That being said, I think I got away with this moisturizer because my skin doesn't respond erratically to too many things due to my skin type. If you are reading this and have very dry skin, Imperialis may not be moisturizing enough for you, but it's definitely worth the try, even if just in a sample pot.
It's a product Lush can be proud of in crafting because it gives satisfactory results without promising too much (e.g. brightening, anti-aging, mortgage-paying, life-changing, etc.)
