Beauty Product Reviews
Eh.
I bought this on a whim after I saw it at Target for $3, and at the time I had misplaced my lovely MAC Blacktrack Fluidline (which I later found on the floor.... lol), which nothing has compared to just yet. The brush it came with was WAY to small to use and pretty useless so I immediately threw it out, so I tried it with my Sonia Kashuk bent liner brush AND an angled liner brush, but it just wasn't opaque enough. I'm putting it to some use though by applying it with a smudger brush on my lower lashline, and I find after setting it with an eyeshadow it doesn't smear or run off which is good. I was hoping I would love this stuff because of the amazing price of it, but I guess I'll keep shelling out the $15 for MAC Fluidline until I find something better for the price.
I'm in love.
This is the greatest foundation ever for oily skin. It legit blows Revlon ColorStay for oily skin out of the water (that stuff did NOTHING for me when it comes to oil control). Before trying this I used the MAC Pro Longwear SPF 10 foundation, and although I do love that foundation, I wanted something without SPF for the purpose of looking good in photos (but if you're going out in the sun, PLEASE wear sunscreen!). For those who don't know, the ingredients used for sunscreen cause a white cast on the face in flash photography, which is kind of a bummer. But thanks to this foundation, my face doesn't look ghostly in photos! But that's not the only reason I love it. The coverage is medium to full, but you can always tailormake it to fit your preferences. I find that it's pretty buildable, and you can double up layers to use it to conceal problem areas. The finish is VERY matte while still looking natural and it dries quickly, so I would recommend doing one area of the face at a time. It applies wonderfully with my Sigma Flat Top Kabuki, and sometimes I'll pat it on with my hands if I'm in a rush or if I want lighter coverage. The color selection is decent, having good choices for people with cool or warm undertones. I mix shades 30 and 40 to get the perfect match. For $34 it is a bit pricey and I wish it were cheaper, but for what it does for my skin, it's a lifesaver.
$1.99 WHAAAAAAT?!?!
These polishes are great for the price! I own an array of colors, my favorites probably being Mint Apple (a minty green-turquoise with microglitter) and Hazard (a muted peachy-orange with microglitter). However, with most brands, it's a hit-or-miss, some of the colors are really streaky and sheer, while others come out great with two coats. I've never had problems with these polishes chipping more than higher-end brands, as long as you use a good top coat they should last good amount. The packaging looks classy and is sturdy, and the brush applies the polish smoothly on the nail. I buy mine at Walgreen's, and they seem to have a big selection there, but I've also seen them at Target with a slightly smaller selection. For $1.99 and a great selection of colors, they're definitely worth a shot.
HG Primer. For reals.
This is the best primer ever. I have extremely oily skin (especially in these super hot summer days) and this significantly improves the way my make-up looks throughout the day. It works beautifully with my MAC Pro Longwear and MUFE Mat Velvelt+ foundations, making them so much easier to apply and blend. It has a slight cooling effect on the skin, which is quite refreshing along with the light scent of it. It really does what it says it will do, and since you don't need that much to cover the whole face one tube will last for MONTHS! I'm still on my first tube and I purchased it probably in February, so it's on its 6th month now and there's still some left! $32 seems like a bit of an investment, but it's definitely worth it for the quality and how long it has lasted me. I will keep repurchasing this stuff as long as they make it.
