OMG I love ballet too! It's one of my passions. And don't worry about your splits you'll get them ;) I'm still working on my left split, because my left leg is kind of weak. And I've been dancing for 9 years! I got my right split in about 3 weeks for doing straddles, lunges, and butterflies! You can find a lot of videos on Youtube on how to get your splits in 3 weeks ;)
