Love the browns, but some of the colors are powdery

This was my first too faced product I have ever bought. I can honestly say I like it, but I do not love it. The colors are nice, but once applied some of them you have to really build to get them to show (I am looking at you vintage violet I want to love you but it is hard to do) and others are very powdery and kind of looks ashy when applied. Maybe it is the particular one I bought or maybe it is because my skin tone makes it difficult for the colors to be seen. But, overall I do like it, I just do not love it.
