say YES to this Eye Firming Treatment!!
First off, I love the vessel. Even though the .5oz siphon pump delivers too much product, you will be able to use every single drop of this cream. Provided that you control the pump, you will have zero wasted product = excellent return on investment. The cap locks tight and you can easily toss it in an overnight bag for travel. Plus the vessel is recyclable.
Night time: I let my eye area get a little dry after I washed my face so I could get a true feel for this product. The first thing that I noticed was how cooling it felt. I usually use All About Eyes from Clinique and this was a different feel. It's more like a lotion than the cream/gel formula I am used to using. This product seemed a little more 'wet' to me but very comfortable.
Within 30 seconds I could feel the tightness around my eyes disappear and my skin feels very comfortable. About 10 minutes later I can feel a little tackiness, which could be too much product, on my part. My eye area looks moist and has a slight sheen around it. The fine lines are gone so I image this will be a real nice base to smooth on under-eye concealers - a great blending agent.
Morning: I used a little less product and noticed I didn't have that tacky feeling, the lotion sank right in. This is a thin cream, so if you're not disciplined to 'pat' your eyecreams on to the orbital area, instead you rub them in, this is a good product for you. I have oily eyelids and usually find eye creams warm up and work their way into my eyes but not this. I have been using it for a week, 2 times a day and have started to love it.
I rate it 4.5 stars out of 5. It lost the 1/2 star because the pump needs to be calibrated to deliver less product. Retails for $19.99 and can be found at YesToCarrots.com Target & CVS.
The long line of cream is what is dispensed from one pump full. The tiny amount on the bottom, is what I use on both eyes.
Skip it if you're on a topical Retinol.
So I received the .5oz tube as swag ($19 retail). The 2oz sells for $85 (!) and there is a 5oz for $185 (!!) I agree with Mary K - it is too expensive BUT it works. The vessel is an inverted squeeze tube, I like it because the product will work it's way towards the cap, naturally, so you can use every drop. The cap is hinged and snaps closed tightly.
Remember this is a treatment not a traditional scrub per se. It is grainy but the idea is not to use the granules to exfoliate but to let the enzyme do the actual work. You squeeze a small dollop onto your finger tips and smooth around your damp face, avoiding lips and eye area. Now wait about 30 seconds for the enzymes to do their thing and rinse off.
Let me start by saying I use Tri-Luma. A prescription retinol cream for acne and age spots. ExfoliKate is too harsh for my skin in conjunction with the Tri-Luma but I will give the best review I can.
It BURNS. It is the same shade as wheatgrass, that bright vibrant grass green. I wet my face and applied the product and IMMEDIATELY I could feel the burn. I knew it would happen b/c of the Tri-Luma I just didn't think it would be that intense. I smeared it around for about 20 seconds and then waited and burned and waited some more. It seems to start to alternate between hot burning and cool burning after my 30 second wait was up. Since I like to push the envelope - I waited 45 seconds before rinsing to see if the burning would subside which would lead me to believe the enzymes finished. It never stopped burning, btw.
I rinsed it off, noticing it took a while to get all of the granules off of my skin and hairline, then followed with my moisturizer and SPF 30. (I usually use Clinique 3-Step, today I skipped step 2 and went straight for step 3).
It says you will be red for up to 20 minutes after use because of an increase in circulation. I'm pretty pink from Rosacea and acne - I actually thought I looked very uniform in colour, not red at all. I was however sensitive to the touch. I am having a bad break-out session right now but I was sensitive all over, not just at the site of my breakouts.
My skin looks radiant, the product was easy to use and did rinse clean off. I think this should be a once a week item not a twice a week (unless you're a man)
It's been about 4 hours since I used it. My skin is very smooth and I am a little less oily then usual, by this time.
Would I buy I again? No. It is a Designer Diva price and I am a budget-conscious-Beauty. More importantly, it is not the right product to add to my personal skin care regime, at this time.
I'll stick with my Clarisonic and 3.5oz 7 Day Scrub Cream and save $150. ;-)
WEEK 1 FOLLOWUP: Today is the third time that I used this and I am upping it 1/2 star. I love how my skin feels. SO FREAKING SOFT. I use a clarisonice 2x a day and I can feel a difference with this addition. My acne is clearing up and it's not so intense on the burning (cinnamon oil). I am using my full 3-Step and no additional burning from the alcohol clarifying lotion. If it weren't so expensive I WOULD buy it again.
Luxury, squared
Perhaps it is the flecks of gold that present visible elegance but these blotting papers are truly luxurious.
I used it for the first time yesterday. I am pretty oily and these quickly made me matte. I simply press a sheet onto my cheeks and forehead, using both sides of the paper and toss - they are 100% biodegradable!! The best part: they will not mess with your makeup. Since you're only pressing these, not rubbing your skin, you remove oil not cosmetics.
They are powder and fragrance free, allowing for the abaca leaf to naturally absorb excess oil. They will not interfere with your makeup so they are a great way to combat shine breakthrough without caking on more makeup and / or powder. Each package contains 30 sheets, you use both sides of each sheet and then toss - they are 100% biodegradable. They lost 1/2 a star because the papers are nearly 4" square: they do not fit in my makeup bag unless I cut them in half.
I high recommend these blotting papers and will rebuy.
Can't wait to try the other flavours!
I was the lucky recipient of Carrot and Melon from a Beautylish swag bag... I couldn't wait to try these butter sticks. I have heard only good things but i'm picky! I am addicted to lipstick and knew I needed to put them to the test!
The consistency, to me, is more like shea butter than solid-state petroleum. Due to the natural oils, like olive and coconut, they are super moisturizing and at the same time surprisingly long lasting. I find that i rub my lips quite often to feel the product and smooth my lips and this lip butter never feather or runs off, it just stays super comfortable.
I was afraid of 'Carrot' - i didn't want to smell dirt lipstick (LOL) but it was soft and sweet, more like a soft orange. Melon is a very soft scent as well, not overpowering and not really noticeable. The product goes on clear with a lot of shine. I tend to wear them alone, when I put traditional lipstick it's not as opaque as it would be on my bare lips - perhaps the oils do not allow the pigments to stick and fully reflect. My guess anyway.
The vessel is traditional white 'chapstick-style' with a swivel base and a snap cap. The cap locks on tightly, I've never found it separated from the tube. I like it much more than Burts Bee's and will purchase more of them. I highly recommend this Lip Butter.
Best CoverGirl product I have used to date!
So I have mixed feelings when it comes to 'natural' cosmetics. As much as I stand behind the philosophy of the products, they lack staying power because they are missing all of the 'bad stuff'.
I'm not a foundation wearer. I usually mix NARS Illuminating serum with my Clinique DDMG and dust my t-zone with loose powder. As I turn the corner a little closer to 40, I'm on a quest to find the perfect sheer coverage that doesn't look ashy over my freckles and sun damage.
I used CoverGirl with Olay products as recently as last summer but it honestly was not the right formula for me. Still my chief complaint was that it ran away quickly - the transfer to my cell phone as well as shine breakthrough was within 30 minutes.
So I see ads for NatureLuxe SPF 10 - liquid silk with a barely there feel. *hummm* It's 20% off @CVS, I'll bite. I'm pretty pale but not ivory, so I chose #310 Flax. My first impression is of the vessel. I like the inverted squeeze tube. It is very thin so it will slip into your cosmetic case easily. There is a window that not only reveals the shade of the product, it allows you to see the remaining amount. The twist cap locks TIGHT. The foundation will not leak out and this cap will not work it's way off of your tube and make a mess.
What is liquid silk? "The hint of jojoba oil and cucumber water, gives flawless, luxurious coverage with barely there feel." ORLY? So I pop open the 1floz tube and squeeze a very small amount onto my finger tips and gently and gently rub them together to distribute the product for application. I use my fingers for this application not a brush. I am pleasantly surprised how velvety smooth it is. Bravo CoverGirl! It was easy to apply, blended in cleanly without VFL, looked natural, felt like powder and gave me an instant matte finish. I looked very uniform in colour - I suffer from Rosacea so I am pink here and pale there - and touched up with powder only twice during the day. Most importantly to me, I did not look like I was trying to cover my freckles, it gave me the finish I was after.
I have worn it a few days now. I have to admit, out of 5 stars, I give it a 4.5. Most of the CoverGirl products I rate receive a 3.5 because they do not have staying power. However, this is the exception to that rule. I had a very small amount of transfer to my phone and when I touched my face, I did not come away with 3 pounds of foundation under my nails. You know what I'm talking about!
I will definitely buy this again and I highly recommend it. For about $10 it's proof good for you can be good for your wallet too!
This gloss puts $40 products to shame.
I saw the berry pink and was so skeptical I had to put it to the test. I have purchased pink drugstore glosses before and have been pretty put off by the quality - or lack there of. I was prepared for a past experience let down but was hoping *New!* meant 'better'!
It did. This gloss came shrink-wrapped for your (my) protection, so I knew it was not sampled by another customer (eww!) The clear vessel allows you to see how much product is remaining. It is long and thin, it can easily be tucked inside your makeup bag.
The applicator is very comfortable, it feels like terry. It pulls a decent amount of product and delivers smoothly. I found the gloss to be extremely comfortable. Rich in colour and consistency this gloss is NOT sticky, does not gum up nor will it feather or feel like it is running off of your mouth.
In the past drugstore pink lipsticks and glosses have turned 5 shades brighter and run off of my lips and leave me looking like I put my gloss on driving down the 101. Not this gloss.
I apply gloss to my bottom lip first and redipped once to apply to my top lip. I rubbed my lips together and was shocked at how moisturizing it felt - the way I wished CoverGirl's ShineBlast felt. The coverage is moderate-fair but not as opaque a lipstick. The shine is amazing. Not glitter, just glam.
After 30 minutes, I still had almost all of the gloss that I applied, on. The colour was still true and it had not started to feather. Wow. By the first hour, the same results. Hour 2, I could still feel product and hour 3 I reapplied. I had 1 cup of coffee during this process.
I will buy more of these. I highly recommend this gloss and can not wait to sample other shades. I would replace any Premier brand with this gloss. You will not be disappointed.
YUMMY!
Described as light strawberry pink, the gold shimmer in the gloss allows you to play up a peach side too. This gloss is a medium consistency, which the pro applicator delivers smoothly. It is long lasting and does not feather. This is a great shade alone or punched up with liner. At $30 they're not cheap but this little luxury is worth the price.
My fave Brow product
Very easy to use and the colour is natural not ashy. I used this before I decided to have my eyebrows tattooed via permanent makeup. I bought a kit that came with a brush and brow gel. You can purchase the powder on it's own. I highly recommend it.
It loses a full star because the powder works its way past the shaker portion and fills the cap cavity.
Didn't work for me
Nope, I felt like my Matte was going to run off my face. I use NARS primer instead. That's the best!
This product is easy to use. It is in a plastic pump vessel, one pump is enough to cover your entire face. It feels like a thin silicone. It is colourless and odorless. I just didn't like the result.
What I wear
I love this. I very rarely wear liquid foundation, and this is the perfect solution. I was so excited when the Matte formula came out - the original made me look greasy.
I was also glad they finally updated the top. What a pain in the ass it is every time the powder would shake into the cap. urg.
I do not use their brushes, I think they are cheap. I use Lancome's #7. It goes on clean and easy.
I'm going to try NARS pressed mineral powder next.
