Cree Roots, Punk Braids
Blanche Macdonald Pro Hair student Poppy Dombrowski delved into her roots, whilst staying true to her love of the fringe state of mind with this phenomenal braid and feather Avant-Garde mohawk!
"I originally wanted to do something based on Native American culture as I'm Cree, but then I wanted to mix in my personal punk/dark side into it. I was going to do a headdress, and then I thought what better than a Mohawk!
I used Manic Panic Goth White foundation mixed with MAC Studio Fix foundation to pale her out. I used several MAC shadows in browns, blues and blacks to create the mask and cross hatched a MAC Fluid Line for detail. I then used a Creme d'Nude on her lips and Fluid Line.
For the headpiece I started with a hollow circular piece of Styrofoam and cut it to fit around the shape of the head. I spray painted that black and hot glued chicken wire to the sides to create more height. I covered it in braiding hair by sewing it to the chicken wire. Then I made several fishtails and braids out of black, blue and purple hair and pinned those all over. I added black and blue feathers and braided two visible braids on my model to sew the piece onto."
