Can I ask what is henna formally used for? Is it just a type of beautification like makeup & tattoos or is there tradition behind it? Its totally gorgeous btw!! I've always wanted some on one of my feet but here in the US & especially where I live its not a real common practice :-(

Henna is formally used as a "shagun" (auspicious starting ) for a marriage. henna is applied on hands and feet of the bride n bridegroom. therez one big ceremony held a couple of days before marriage called mehendi. (henna).
