You need first paint the nails a good base color like white and then use a cosmetic sponge and first paint the mail polish on the sponge and then tap it into your nails for a few layers until it is dark enough

Hey love sorry this is late, but for this mani I painted my nails the minty color for the base on all my nails, then I took a cosmetic wedge sponge and dipped that into the lilac shade and layered it on the tips to create the gradient effect. Hope this helps!
