Best primer for oily girls!
Meet Hourglass's Veil Mineral Primer. If you're oily, you've just met The One. According to the Hourglass website, this primer makes your pores and fine lines barely noticeable, ensures that your foundation stays put all day, protects your skin from the suns rays, and, get ready ladies:
WATERPROOFS YOUR MAKEUP. Mmmmmhmmmm girl, you read that right! Now I'm not saying swim in the ocean and act like you're a Victoria's Secret model running on the beach for a photo shoot right after, but for day to day wear, this is gorgeous! Speaking of pictures, don't worry about the SPF, there is no white cast when using flash. And when I say this is for you oily girls, I mean it! I have tried mattifying products from more brands than I can even remember, and this is hands down the best oil controlling product out there! It doesn't make you stay completely matte all day, but the level of dewiness it imparts on your skin is actually a desirable and healthy looking glow.
Also, Ive decided that from now on when I rave (or rant) about a product, I'm going to get all scientific and tell you what the ingredients do. I think if you're a product junkie like me or you're interested in skincare, you might want to know what you're putting into the biggest organ you have!
Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer: What's in it?
Cyclopentasiloxane: This is a silicone, it gives the primer that silky slip that you feel when applying it to your face. However, that function of this ingredient is just one amazing factor. Cyclopentasiloxane is one of the ingredients that makes the primer water resistant. It also hel ps plump the skin wherever imperfections like enlarged pores or fine lines happen to be. This ingredient is also pretty nice to have in your primer because it absorbs fast into the skin, delivering its benefits and leaving you feeling hydrated, but not sticky! Remember, this is the FIRST ingredient. That means there is more of this than any other things in the product! You better already be hooked.
Isododecane: This also aids in the spreadability of the product. It doesnt do a ton of other things though.
Polysilicone-11: This is a "film-forming" agent that could possibly be another ingredient that helps make your makeup water resistant and leaves your skin feeling smooth.
Polymethylsilsesquioxane: This does the exact same thing as the previous ingredients!
Hexyl Laurate: Ohhhh, look how fancy this one is! Its a skin softening ingredient! Sweet :)
Peg-10 Dimethicone: Skin softening! I get the feeling Hourglass likes to double up on the ingredients...can't hurt right?
Polyglyceryl-4 Isosterate: Softening and soothing!
Stearic Acid: This just makes the product thicker.
Alumina: Thickening.
All in all, this is a pretty darn amazing product! Like I said, if you're oily, it is a must have!!
