Beauty Product Reviews

Quick makeup remover that actually feels clean.

I am so glad to now have an authentic retailer to get my hands on this stuff, rather than going through unverified Amazon sellers and hoping for the best. This is the lazy girl's best friend when taking off your makeup. It is simple and quick to use and takes off face makeup effortlessly. While I have better luck removing eye makeup with a standard eye makeup remover, I have a feeling if I were more patient and gentle with eye makeup, that this would also work well. As you can see, the faster I can get my makeup off, the better I like the product. This does that job and leaves behind zero residue. No need to rinse and is also good for corrections during makeup application. I actually feel like I have clean skin when I use this and feel like all of my makeup came off, as opposed to when I use makeup wipes. I always have the biggest bottle on hand and it can last me a few months, so don't let the price tag scare you. I'm not stingy with it, but I also don't pour it out liberally. Depending on your usage, you won't go through it quickly. It may seem at first a lot to spend on a makeup remover, but it has a cult following for a reason-it's worth it!

My go-to blush.

I am picky, picky, picky with blush. Blush isn't something that excites me as a makeup collector, but something about this blush piqued my interest. My skin tone is light (not the fairest, not medium). I first tried Sex on Fire, but it was too red for my liking. I like true peach shades, mauves, and nudes/shades that lean brown. I attended the Charlotte Tilbury+Beautylish launch party in San Francisco last fall, and the lovely Trisha matched me to First Love. It is a peach tone that leans toward the nude/brown spectrum of peach (definitely not toward the peachy pinks). This shade is the perfect one for people who want a more subtle blush. As for the "swish and pop" method, I tend to just swirl my blush in the whole thing and apply the blended color, but I do go easier on the middle part as it's the darker of the shades. I would love to see more colors in the future, as the rest of the line looks a little pink/bright/red for my liking, though I've only tried on 2 shades. Given the excellent quality of the product, it would behoove the company to make even more shades, as I suspect many of us would snap up seconds in an instant. Again, I'm not a blush fanatic, but this one impresses me and I'm glad I have it. I do wear it frequently, and given its luxurious packaging, excellent color, and product quality, this is my favorite blush.

THE brushes to have.

I bought these for myself for Christmas when they were originally launched in 2013. (I now have every brush he's released.) I was a fan of Mr. Goss's work on YouTube, so I didn't hesitate to purchase these and they haven't let me down. They are my favorite tools to work with and are of impeccable quality. I do not know if I can simply choose just one favorite, but I do love the holiday powder brush as it is the most luxurious. As for a brush that isn't limited edition, the #8 brush is the most amazing brush for precise tightlining. I don't think there's a smaller brush out there for such a delicate task. I was trying to help a friend buy brushes at a department store and I was astounded, after working with my Goss brushes for so long, at the drastic difference in quality between these and brushes from department store lines that I used to use. Thus you can see the singular drawback to this product-once you've experienced Japanese quality brushes, you simply cannot go back. However, these are worth every penny that was spent on them. They are soft, blend like a dream, and WILL last you a lifetime. Take care of your brushes, and they'll take care of you.

Returned it.

This is the only Kevyn Aucoin product I've tried that has let me down. I much prefer the powder forms of the highlighter and sculpting powder. I had high hopes that these were those products in cream form, but they were a far cry from the originals. The sculpting side was so sheer it blended into nothing. I do like sheer, and I don't do heavy contour, but it disappeared completely as I blended. The highlight side was a bit more visible, but it just looked more like a greasy area rather than the 'lit from within' look we're all striving to attain with these types of products. I'll be sticking to the powder forms of these products. Besides, there is no glow better than the powder version of KA Candlelight!

My Holy Grail

This is my holy grail of all holy grail foundations. Nothing quite measures up to this. First of all, I like sheer to light coverage. As a tinted moisturizer, this is obviously a sheer coverage product, but it does a great job delivering the coverage I need as well as being comfortable to wear. It sinks in to the skin and has little to no fragrance. While it does have the necessary SPF, it doesn't smell like SPF-which is a bonus! This has been my go-to for 10 years now, and when I wear it I'm consistently asked what kind of makeup I use to get great skin. It evens out my skin tone, looks natural, and allows my own natural beauty to come through. Because of this product, I firmly believe that you don't need to wear a mask of foundation to look your best.
