Beauty Product Reviews
great for the price, but better ones out there
I started using dry shampoo when I had bright red hair. It helped save my colour so I didn't have to do and intensive wash every day. Before this brand came out I used rockstar dry shampoo. I wasn't a fan of the smell but it worked awesome for soaking up the oil. Considering this product was half the price I thought I would try it. It did freshen up my hair but giving it some oomph and I really liked how it had a nice salon smell. It did not soak up the oil and de shine my hair as much as the more expensive rockstar though. This worked great for just giving my hair a kick in the morning and freshen my look, but if I needed a dry shampoo to do some de-slicking on a bad day this just doesn't have the strength.
Overpriced for what it is
yes it is a lipstick and gloss in one, yes it is bright and yes the crayon form is handy....but it's 3 times the price of Milani lip flash ad it is exactly the same thing. Two of the colours are even identical to lip flashes I already have. If it was long lasting I would pay the extra money but it comes off just as easily as Milani and feels the same. Not impressed
Bold, creamy and smells great
i just got my 3 lipsticks and love them. My beautiful rocket is a great orange! It's not bright neon, but it's still a true orange. I find that since I naturally have pink lips, if I put a concealed and set it on top of my lips and then add the lipstick, I get a truer orange. Retrofuturist is the most beautiful true red ever! It goes on smooth and bright...but if you are concerned about staining put on a lipgloss first, it does stain a bit. Centrefuscia is much more of a red pink than a pink pink. At first it looked very similar to the retro futurist to me but once I was out in the light (I live in a basement apartment) it was an awesome magenta. This colour also stains your lips, but it doesn't bother me. All the lipsticks have a very nice creamy texture. I'd even compare it to a dense lipgloss..it's not as gooey as a gloss but it's very smooth. They also smell like vanilla....which is awesome because I can't stand the smell of some makeups but this I like. I can't wait for the lipsticks to restock and get more!
Awesome sparkle, dupe of Milani
I picked one of these up the other day at walmart because the great canadian superstore was sold out of Milani lip flash (in Canada they don't sell Milani at drug stores it's only in a large grocery store chain and apparently sears but I am yet to find it there). These are exactly the same! Bright, bold colours without being too pigmented. I did find that I had to layer it on a bit more than Milani to get the same intensity but in the end they looked that same and were the same consistency. So I had the same issue with this product as with the Milani which is that if you put too much on it can get a bit goopy in the corners of your mouth. But other than that I love them
Lasting and natural
this is my everyday go to mascara! I used to use feather lash but I guess they stopped making it so I picked this up and wow! I love it! I use the waterproof because I find waterproof mascaras last longer but that's just me. This mascara isn't clumping at all. It separates all your lashes and lengthens them so it just looks like you have long beautiful lashes. And because it keeps the lashes delicate I find it works great on my lower lashes as well without giving me what I call doll eyes (you know those insane top and bottom lashes like a porcelain doll?). I rarely had a problem with chunks of mascara forming on my lashes. It applies vey smoothly and is easily built up. And the final plus (which is why I use it more than my other mascaras) I never get that flaking fall out under my eyes later in the day from the mascara drying and cracking off.
Orangy and smells too strong
I bought this bronzer because they were sold out of my usual physicians formula and I was NOT happy with it. There were only two shades I could chose from, a light to medium shade and a darker shade. So I grabbed the lighter shade but this was a) too dark for my skin and b) too orange for my skin. IT was not a natural bronzer at all, it made it look like one of those bad fake orange tans. On top of that it had a very strong sweet smell...almost like a perfumed baby powder or something and I can't stand it when my makeup has a scent. I would not buy this again....I'll stick to my other brand
Not bad for the price, but not as bold as i thought
I got the flamboyant set because I love mixing warm and cool colours together for a great pop. This duo had the complementary colours and both looked like great colours on their own. However, when I tried to use it I was kind of disappointed. I knew it was a drug store eye shadow, but with a name like "High Intensity Pigments" I expected a much better payoff. It's still an average eyeshadow for the price but just average. The purple was ok, and about as bright as an estee lauder purple I have but the gold in it was horrible. It did not go on very bright and it was a shimmer, so when it went on unevenly (which it tended to do) you could tell. Overall, not a bad product for the price, but I expected much more from it considering the marketing of it.
Natural or dramatic!
I love this! I have the blonde duo with the wax. The lighter blonde matches great and gives a soft edge which I have a very hard time getting with a pencil. The darker shade is great for defining rather than filling but it also works great to get the darker pin up style brows. The wax for holding the brows in place I wasn't very impressed with and I went through it very fast. It did hold the hairs in place, it it just felt almost like a hair pomade, and considering the price, I was expecting a bit extra.
Good control, but very soft
the powder worked very well in getting rid of my shine without looking powdery or making me look pale. It was great to just toss in my bag and carry with me, and I didn't mind pulling it out to use it because the packaging is just gorgeous....I think I might save it as a mirror when it's done :) my one complaint though is that the powder is very soft. I have gotten quick a few knocks out of the powder and had chuncks fall out...so...considering the high price tag, I was not impressed about that
Sparkly with a tint, best for layering
Love love love the sparkle in these! It's not nearly as bright as the lip flash pencils but I find them a great side kick for them. On their own they are very sparkly with a tint of color. Most of the colour I find comes from the sparkles. The texture is not to thick or tacky and not too thin and runny. I did find that if I put a heavy coat on it felt a bit goopy in the corners of my mouth. What I love to do is match the gloss to a similar colour of lip flash and put it on top. For example I have a bright pinkish red glamour gloss that I put onto of the flashy lip flash and it makes this AWESOME magenta sparkle epic-ness! Lol!
