Beauty Product Reviews
Decent product, but not worth the money!
After trying the Ardell Brow & Lash Growth Accelerator Treatment Gel, I decided to give the NYX Brow Grow Serum when it became on sale for $14.99 (retails for $25.00). $25 is too much for me to spend on a brow serum, but I was willing to it when Ulta had NYX 40 percent off a while back, plus I had a $5 off of $10 purchase.
Some positive things about the product is that it will go on clear and dry really quickly. I'd say it takes a good 5 minutes to try. I have sensitive skin and the product doesn't irritate or make my skin itch at all.
This product claims that it will take your uneven or over plucked brows and grow in more fuller brows. I did start noticing a difference after about two weeks, but than nothing would really happen. By no means do my brows look fuller.
I'm not fully impressed with the product and I don't know if I would purchase it again at the sale price. There is no way I would pay $25 for this item.
Totally drying on my lips!
I was so excited to finally get my hands on these lip balms because people all over YouTube RAVE about them. I mean how cute is that packaging?!
I do have dry lips to begin with so I'm always on the hunt for a great moisturizing lip balm. It's a must have for me in both the summer and winter weathers. I have Lemon Drop and Honeysuckle (which smells like the Cucumber Melon products from Bath & Body Works). At first I thought these products were great, but after a short while I started noticing that my lips will become really dry... even drier than what they were originally. I started noticing that I would apply this every 10 minutes or so, which isn't a good thing.
I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who suffer from dry lips. I think this product is more of a gimmick with it's cute packaging. We all love cute packaging, but the product isn't always worth it in the end.
Favorite Concealer I've tried!
I've tried quite a few different concealers from both high end and low end brands. I have to say this is by far the best one I've used, but I do want to try that concealer from Eve Pearl.
I'm in the shade NW20, which is one shade down from my foundation shade. When I went to MAC I told the lady that my skin is pretty oily, but because of allergies and me constantly rubbing my eyes, my under eye area is pretty dry. This was the concealer she recommended for me.
I only use this for under my eyes and I absolutely love it. It lasts all day and it even brightens up my under eye area a little bit. I did learn the hard way to only use a little bit. I accidentally squirted out too much and boy did my under eyes look BRIGHT. It's a full coverage, which is nice if you have a few imperfections on your face you want to cover up. I do have a few, but my foundation covers them up nicely. Since Summer is right around the corner, I'll be using my Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer, so I will need to use this concealer on the small imperfections I have.
My Favorite Massage Bar!
Talk about adorable packaging! I love the design of this massage bar.
I absolutely LOVE this massage bar. This might sound weird, but I LOVE the smell of Strawberries, but I actually don't like eating them. While my face is oily as can be, my skin is pretty dry & this bar just moisturizes my skin perfectly. I do have severe allergies when it comes to fragrance and LUSH is probably the only store that doesn't give me a migraine or break me out.
The only down side, hence the 4 1/2 stars, is that it looks a little greasy. I use it on my body because other body moisturizers irritate the Bajeezus out of my skin, but I wouldn't recommend using this as an all over body moisturizer.
A great thing for beginners looking to start their collection
After swatching several colors, I was pretty dang impressed with the color pigmentation. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much pay off because most palettes I've tried were very chalky, awful pigmentation & didn't last at all.
This particular product was the exact opposite. The pigmentation is really good on majority of the colors. When it comes to any palette you buy whether it's high end or low end you'll get highly pigmented colors and colors that are just awful. The colors I've been using are pigmented & do last a good amount of time. It's hard to judge lasting power because no matter what eye primer I use, shadows (both high end & drugstore) just don't stay on for that long. Keep in mind shadows will last long if a primer and/or base is added before applying your shadows.
The only downside was the fallout and there was a lot of it. If fall out annoys you than you probably won't like the palette.
I think new makeup wearers should take advantage of palettes. They're a great way to start your collection if you don't have much money to spend.
Good powder foundation
The 4-in-1 pressed powder has SPF 15, which is a must have for those hot summer days, and it gives the coverage needed without your makeup looking and feeling heavy or cakey. It goes on smoothly and lasts a long time.
As someone with overly sensitive and allergy prone skin, I've never used a foundation that went on so smoothly, matched my skin perfectly, lasted all day and didn't make my skin red, itchy or irritated. This foundation passed my tough inspection with flying colors.
The reason for the four stars is because it didn't last all day on my skin like it promises, but I do have super oily skin... especially in the summer. The other reason is because Bare Minerals is roughly the same price and it works a little better than this product.
A must have item for the summer!
The Sheen Supreme lipsticks, which are part of the permanent collection, have a strong color but do come out looking like you added some lip gloss. The super moisturizing lipsticks have a little sheen to them, but the color is definitely buildable -- Just like the Slimshines.
There are 14 beautiful shades in the collection that will sure be a huge hit among fans of the popular makeup line. The color purchased for this review was Ultra Darling. This particular lipstick is a pink coral shade that's a little opaque with a bit of a glossy shine when applied.
Since these are a little on the opaque side the lasting power isn't the longest. They are moisturizing, which is a bonus, but they only last on the lips for up to five hours depending on which shade you purchase. Like the regular Mac lipsticks, the Sheen Supreme has that vanilla scent to them.
Ultra Darling is a more pigmented shade that went on smoothly. The nice glossy finish added a nice touch since a gloss wasn't needed. The lipstick lasted a good four hours before it faded, which isn't a bad thing. Most other lipsticks I've used in the past, including Mac, only lasted two to three hours before I had to reapply. I do always add a little conditioner when I first wake up, but these lipsticks are moisturizing on its own.
Very moisturizing on my lips!
After trying many lip balms, lip conditioners and chap sticks, lip conditioners from Mac Cosmetics are by far the best products out there. While the color is a bit on the sheer side, it's very buildable and does give a nice flush to the lips.
Not only is the smell really nice, but also that the product does an amazing job at keeping the lips completely hydrated. As we all know, Chicago weather can be unpredictable and brutal. Having a great lip conditioner is crucial in keeping the lips safe and hydrated. It's recommended to use the lip conditioner every night before bed. Simply apply a small amount to the lips and head off to sleep. The product will help keep your lip moisturized during the night.
A staple in my makeup collection
The Bare Minerals Buxom Lash mascara has been a staple in my makeup collection since it became available to purchase. I've tried various mascaras ranging from drugstore to high end and no other mascara has compared to the Buxom lash. Keep in mind that we're all looking for something different in our mascara. I barely have lashes and they're short. For me personally, I'm looking for am mascara that will make my lashes looker fuller and a little longer. Length, however, isn't as important to me like fullness is.
The Buxom Lash makes my lashes look full for hours and doesn't flake off like drugstore mascaras. The Maybelline Falsies mascaras not only irritate my eyes, but it also clumps and flakes off. Not to mention my lashes didn't stay full for long. The brush is really great and the product says what it does. It distributes the product evenly and your lashes will darken.
