Beauty Product Reviews

Perfectly charming, but insanely delicate

Eleanor is gloriously adorable, but must be handled with care. Her outline is a bit sharp, but nothing scary. I would feel better if she were a bit thicker, to have more to hold in your hand. My main concern is the longevity of her thumb hole. Although she certainly would be functional without it, I wouldn't count on the ability to wrap my thumb around it. My first Eleanor arrived with a cracked handle, but BeautyLish was quick to send me a replacement who was in flawless condition. She is the perfect size for holding her in your hand while working. Excellent black, high gloss finish. All in all I'm glad this beauty is in my collection, but beauties beware she's super fragile.

Must Have for Makeup Brushes

Before braking down and purchasing the official Brush Guards, I researched purchasing supplies to simply make them myself. However, I am so glad I opted to purchase these instead. Brush Guard has protecting and reshaping brushes down to a science; tough material, great length, and awesome sizing selection to fit various brushes. Although slight fraying at the edges is natural and to be expected, when my current slew of Brush Guards does bite the dust, I will absolutely be repurchasing these for my brushes.

Mixed Bag

I recently discovered de-potting, and creating customized palettes. Although I love Z Palettes in theory, and in total I have purchased 6, I have had 2 fronts crack quite noticeably. I purchased 4 Pro black palettes for professional use, and 2 fuchsia palettes for personal use. I had to swap out 2 of the cracked black palettes with 2 fuchsia palettes, because I felt the cracked plastic fronts were anything but professional. I recommend Z Palettes, however, I also recommend extreme care. I am NOT hard on things, and my makeup is very precious so I am still trying to figure out how and why this keeps happening.

Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is

I am a lipstick-a-holic, but I was very disappointed by this product. I purchased several of the blue shades simply because where else will I find blue lipstick?! Although the consistency is creamy, and non-drying, it has a tendency to walk, and not necessarily stay put. I often wind up with a blue line on my chin or teeth. It's no Bobbi Brown, or M*A*C, and I will not be repurchasing any colors of this product.

Pigment Packed

I spied the Inglot store in NYC, and discovered a land of super pigmented, high impact eyeshadows. These shadows are incredibly visible, blend able, and easy to apply. When I am craving high impact shadow, or need out of the box colors, I call on Inglot.

Makeup Kit Staple

I was introduced to the Embryolisse line when I attended an airbrush makeup class in Pittsburgh taught by industry star Debra Dietrich. She always carries this moisturizer in her kit, and recommends it to fellow artists. The product is light, and absorbs very quickly into skin. It provides a dewy finish that is the perfect canvas for applying foundation. Excellent for sensitive skin. On a note of caution, I do not personally use this product as I have SUPER oily skin. I find it can be a little too much moisture if you are also on the extremely oily end of the skin spectrum.
