Yves St. Laurent Touche Éclat

Not quite a concealer and not merely a highlighter, but an inspired hybrid of the two, the YSL Touche Éclat works like a personal airbrush. Coming in 11 different shades, the pen color corrects and camouflages, erasing signs of fatigue and discoloration without the heavy build up of traditional concealers.

To use YSL Touche Éclat, place a few strategic dabs under the eyes while concentrating it towards the center of the face.

Used on the inside of the nose by the eyelid, it brightens and lightens.

Or, dab it around the side of the nostrils. That’s where redness or dark discoloration often shows through — one of my makeup pet peeves. Touche Éclat can also alleviate the inevitable breakdown of any look, by giving it a bright boost.

I love a light swipe around the nasal labial fold (that’s the line running from your nose to the corner of your mouth) for an immediate lift.

It also works along the lip line to produce a fuller, more plump lip. This approach helps some of my clients to appear younger by priming and plumping the mouth areas — giving a more youthful, pouty lip.

My biggest trick with the Touche Éclat is to use it as a kind of “makeup remover” that cleans up small mistakes and smudges without comprising the complexion, or wiping everything away and starting again. This little pen is a powerhouse for making any makeup look perfect. And best of all — it takes up no room in a professional kit or a purse. Late at night when you are still out and going strong, slip into the bathroom to refresh, find your Touche Éclat, and be really glad you took it with you.
