Brand Profile: Kjaer Weis

We love organic makeup brand Kjaer Weis for its beautiful packaging (each product comes in a lacquered grain textured box that looks like a jewelry case) and the gorgeous quality of the products. So we decided to sit down with it's creator Kirsten Kjaer Weis to find out more behind her inspiration, beautiful packaging and decision to launch an organic makeup line.

Q:  What inspired you to create Kjaer Weis? 

Working for so many years as a makeup artist and coming across countless women who had allergic reactions from makeup, I felt that there was a need for a certified organic makeup line without any artificial ingredients that could hold its own as far as colors and textures next to conventional lines.

Q: The packaging is so gorgeous! How did you create it?

The idea behind the line very much included packaging. There is a perception that natural and organic lines must look very recycled on the outside and therefore not very attractive. I felt there was a niche in the market for a true organic product with glamorous packaging. In my opinion that didn't exist and in order to take care of one's health you shouldn't have to compromise.

Q: Why do you think green or organic makeup is better for you?

All ingredients in my products are sourced from all over the world in order to get the highest quality. They come from nature and have an affinity with the skin. The skin celebrates these ingredients instead of fighting against them.

Q: How did you get started in makeup?

Many years ago I accidentally heard about a makeup school in Paris (Christian Cheaveau) and thought it sounded interesting. I had always had a huge interest in design, art and colors so I signed up. It became my path.

Q: What's your must have beauty product and favorite tip?

Good skin is the canvas for a healthy look and beautiful makeup. It starts from the inside out with clean cells, diet, sleep and a positive approach to life. Makeup is an added bonus and an amazing tool to enhance one's beauty. My favorite product is a cream blush. It gives an instant glow and look of health no matter how tired you are.
