Music Video Makeup Inspiration
Published Nov 17, 2011
Have you ever spent a morning watching MTV just for a glimpse at the glossy music videos? These days there's more to a video than just the music. Incredible sets, costumes, special effects, and makeup looks are inspiring—and uplifting!—to watch. From Jennifer Lopez and Beyoncé to Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj, tons of female music artists push the boundaries, both lyrically and with their makeup, every time they appear on your screen. Here we showcase three Beauties who were inspired by music videos and created their own looks!
Nicki Minaj "Super Bass" Music Video Inspired Makeup
by Makeup By Leina B.
Nicki Minaj is known for her outrageous hair and makeup, and her crazy love of color. Neon lips, striped hair, massive lashes, and crazy nails are all part of the arsenal of this singer, who some say is the new Missy Elliott! Although some of her looks may be too over the top to copy completely, Leina takes inspiration from the "Super Bass" music video and creates multicolor eyes and bright pink lips. Rock this look at a summer pool party or with a cool outfit on a regular day out!
Jennifer Lopez "On the Floor" Music Video Makeup
by Bethany Z.
If you didn't know it, J.Lo is still fierce. She just released a new album called Love, collaborated on a clothing collection for Kohl's, and has two adorable twins. But besides her incredible empire, the lady always looks amazing. Sky-high heels, sultry eye makeup, and glossy lips are la Lopez's staples, and she never fails to impress. Bethany re-creates Jennifer’s makeup from "On the Floor" (remember that hit?), which is a perfect dark smoky eye for a night out dancing.
Selena Gomez "Love You Like a Love Song" Music Video Inspired Makeup Featuring BH Cosmetics
by Tracy and Stefanie B.
Selena Gomez is a relative newcomer to the music scene, but she has already stolen our hearts—as well as Justin Bieber’s. The young starlet always looks stylish on the red carpet with her beautiful fashion taste, recently appeared in the film Monte Carlo alongside Leighton Meester, and just hosted the MTV Europe Music Awards. Her video for "Love You Like a Love Song" is still stuck in our heads and was filled with amazing beauty moments. Here, Stefanie was inspired by Selena's first look, a stunning violet eye shadow, but toned it down to make it wearable for every day. We love!
