NEW YORK FASHION WEEK S/S 2012
Preen's spring 2012 collection, designed by Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi, was youthful, modern, and light.
HAIR
Aveda lead stylist Paul Hanlon designed neat, precise twists backstage. The smooth, taut hair created a clean curvillinear line that eloganted the neck. “Thea and Justin have produced a beautifully modern collection marked by linear shapes and patterns punctuated with Victorian-era touches," said Paul. "The hair is pure and neat—almost a '40s feel."
GET THE LOOK
-
Prep hair with Aveda Volumizing Tonic and blow dry with a round brush.
-
Once dry, gently brush hair away from the face and let the hair part naturally on the left side. Smooth hair with a fine-toothed comb and mist Aveda Air Control Hair Spray lightly.
-
On the top right of the ear, begin to twist hair toward the back of the head, staying just on top of the parietal ridge. Use a tail comb to neatly bring hair up into the roll, and secure the roll with “U” pins. Avoid twisting tightly at this point.
-
Continue twisting toward the back of the head following the natural hairline. Twist all the way to the nape, and secure hair with a clip.
-
On the left side, begin to twist one or two inches above the top of the year and slope the downward at the back of the head to create a "U" shape when the twists meet.
-
Neatly brush the hair upward from the hairline to create a seamless connection between the two twists, giving the appearance of a single, smoothly twisted roll.
-
Use Aveda Air Control Hair Spray and the end of a tail comb to smooth all wisps and flyaways. Replace the “U” pins with bobby pins, and hide underneath the hair.
-
Finish with Aveda Brilliant Spray-On Shine.
NAILS
Preen’s pastel collection featured modern, feminine prints. Nails were kept subtle and punchy with sorbet-colored lacquers. The fingernails were painted one coat in Essie Nail Polish in Pink Lemonade, a shimmery, iridescent shade of light pink with an orange tint. The toes were with Essie Nail Polish in Chastity, a solid lilac-infused pink. Both fingers and toes were finished off with Essie Good to Go! Top Coat and Essie Quick-E Drying Drops.
