DIY Beauty: Hair Rinse
Published Mar 28, 2011
Over time, our hair can start to accumulate buildup from daily hair products like heavy shampoos, conditioners and styling products. This will suck the life out of your hair and make it appear awfully dull and drab. By using a hair rinse, you'll clarify your hair and close the cuticle scales that cover the surface of each individual hair shaft. This will leave your hair looking shinier and softer, and make it much more manageable to style.
You can create your own hair rinse with just water and apple cider vinegar--super simple and all-natural, which makes it a winning recipe in our book. Your hair will smell like vinegar after you use it but this odor will disappear by the time your hair completely dries. You can also add in natural essential oils to dilute the smell if you wish, but be sure to use natural and not synthetic synthetic essential oils, since the synthetic chemicals may irritate your scalp.
HOW TO Homemade Hair Rinse
-
Mix 1 quart of water with 1/3 cup of organic apple cider vinegar into a bottle with a cover on top.
-
Optional: Add a few drops of essential oils. Mix the ingredients together.
-
After shampooing your hair, apply the hair rinse mixture into your hair and massage it into your scalp. Leave it on for about 5 minutes and rinse.
Beautylish Tip: Don't overdo it with this hair rinse because it can be drying on your scalp. Once a month is plenty to clarify your hair, unless you have major build up. In that case, you can use this mask once or twice a week. You can store unused mix in a closed container in the refrigerator for future use.
