Bright lips are a hot spring makeup trend, but if you’re a woman of color, which shades are best for you? “ ”Pink never thrills me,“ says celebrity makeup artist Sam Fine (Iman and Vanessa Williams are his loyal clients). ”It think it looks like the inside of the mouth, especially on brown skin. The more vibrant oranges and orange reds are a lot more complementary to browner skin tones, which tend to have a golden undertone.“ To ensure that the lipstick covers the natural tone of your lips, Sam recommends prepping lips with a little bit of concealer and blotting. ”A coordinating pencil will strengthen the color of the lipstick, but you need to have a lipstick that gives good coverage--women of color tend to have more tone in their lip, so you need to choose a lipstick shade that looks like how it appears in the tube when you swipe it on your mouth." Here are Sam’s favorite brightly-pigmented lipstick picks:
1 MAC Lipstick
2 Dolce & Gabbana Classic Cream Lipstick
3 Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick
