D.I.Y. Avocado Recipes

Avocados (the fruit that taste like a vegetable) are delicious and offer amazing benefits to your skin. They contain vitamins like A, D, and E which can help improve your skin complexion and treat sun damage. Studies have also shown that avocados contain anti-microbial chemicals, which may help treat and prevent acne breakouts. Keep reading for a few of our favorite recipes with this creamy summer fruit!
Silky Soft Hair Mask

1 Ripe avocado

1 Egg yolk
-
1/2 Teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil

Disposable shower cap
Mash the avocado and whisk in the egg yolk and extra virgin olive oil. Rub the mixture into dry hair, starting from the roots and moving your way up to your scalp. Wear the shower cap for about 30 minutes, rinse it out with warm water, and shampoo and condition your hair.
Moisturizing Eye Mask

1/4 Cup of a ripe avocado

1/4 Cup of pure aloe vera gel
Mash the avocado and mix in the aloe vera gel. On a clean face, apply the mixture under your eyes for 10 minutes. Gently wipe it away and rinse your face with warm water.
Hydrating Face Mask (for all skin types)

1/2 Ripe avocado

1 Teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil or vitamin E oil

1 Teaspoon of fresh lemon juice (optional if you have very oily skin)

1 Egg white (optional if you have very oily skin)
Mash the ripe avocado and whisk in the other ingredients. On a clean face, apply the mixture all over for 15 - 20 minutes. Gently wipe it away and rinse your face with warm water. Follow up with your favorite toner, serum, and/or moisturizer.
