Stars' Favorite 2011 Nail Trends

87

Beauties, we know how much you love creating one-of-a-kind nail designs. This year celebrities joined in on the design fun too! Stars moved away from safe neutrals and classic reds and embraced multicolored manis and fresh and fabulous styles. Didn't keep up with all the nail trends in 2011? Here's your chance to catch up! We rounded up the biggest fingertip fads from the past 12 months.

DECALS

Over-the-top nails don't just mean neon colors and bling anymore. Famous faces and places are now being celebrated on stars' fingertips. Katy Perry sported the Smurfs (she voiced a character in the film), and even the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge!

MULTICOLORED MANI

In 2011, solid standard manicures were updated by one or two accent digits. The  statement nails (usually on the ring finger like Beyoncé displayed, or pointer finger), add pizzazz to each hand without being too extravagant.

OMBRÉ

Lauren Conrad was the first celebrity to hit the red carpet rocking the fading fingertips trend, and it started a phenomenon. She opted for a pretty variety of blues that matched her indigo-dipped strands.

POINTY

A claw comeback! Rihanna, Fergie, and Lady Gaga were just a few of the A-listers to flaunt extra-long talons this year. The sharp shape is an extreme take on a retro 1950s style.

HALF-MOON MANICURE

Who said the tips get to have all the fun? From the runways to the red carpet, the traditional French manicure was reversed into an edgy, half-moon version. But Fergie wasn't the only celebrity loving the look. Dita von Teese released her own line of press-on styles.
