September has arrived, and that means the fall collections are hitting stores faster than we can swatch a lipstick. We’re talking cosmetics of course, where the new thing is deep dark lips, and jewel-toned eyes—looks that practically scream romance and danger.
Though shades of purple and plum are popping up in makeup shops all over town, Beautylish favorite Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics is keeping ahead of the game with their new 'Heroine' collection. The new line includes a whopping six mixable, matte, autumn-worthy lip tars—plus a dirty, violet-hued loose shadow they’ve named “Overlook.” Surprisingly, the color is carmine-free, making it one of the few vegan friendly purple shadows on the market.
Beautylish stopped by the OCC store in New York the other night for their product release party, where we were first in line to play with all the fabulous fall shades. The man behind the magic, OCC founder David Klasfeld, explained that the line of sexy new lip tars are each inspired by a different horror movie heroine, translating his love of art into makeup and inspiring others to face danger with confidence.
Though we are swooning over all the new shades including Psycho, a shocking red, and Lydia, a Beetlejuice-inspired plum, the most coveted color in the collection is the mysterious Black Dahlia, which was originally created during Beautylish BFF Gerlan’s spring 2012 fashion show. It’s perfect combination of black and red; a bloody good color that’s as goth as it is glamour.
The Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics team throws a hell of a party, and after gorging on platters of vegan cupcakes that smeared our lipstick, we can’t wait to see all the new shades debut at Gerlan’s show. Can’t make the runway? Stay tuned for full coverage.
