The Splashiest Nail Art of Fashion Week
Published Sep 19, 2012
Believe us. The Blonds show had us head over bedazzled heels! The psychedelic beach-bound one pieces. The giant size lipstick-shaped body decor, the over-the-top Barbarella hair, the deliciously obnoxious use of rhinestones and vinyl. We ate it all up and screamed for more, and The Blonds delivered to the tips, presenting a range of custom claws created by CND. Nail designs included giant acrylic fins, rock candy crystalline formations, and even a set of nails made to look like tubes of lipstick—a clever and surprisingly wearable design idea. Phillipe Blond even went all out sporting a custom mani featuring mug shots of, who else, Phillipe Blond!
Backstage the press was all a buzz when CND revealed the collection, which arrived like precious jewels in treasure chests. How we wished it were our names scribbled alongside the delicate sets, which had been pre-assigned to each of the lucky models. The girls stole eager glimpses of their sculptural nails between eye shadow applications.
Judging by The Blonds’ equally entertaining runway show, the future of glamour is now, and that means nail art is hanging on at least through next season, which we mani masterpiece enthusiasts couldn’t be happier about. Check out some of CND’s finest work to date below.
