With Father's day around the corner and Morgan Spurlock's Mansome a Tribeca film festival hit, things are heating up for guys in beauty. No excuses for dads, bachelors, and teens alike—grooming matters! While some are more up for the challenge than others (BROzilians and manscaping, anyone?!), it's never too late for men to start taking care of themselves. We know it's a big, overwhelming world full of products and techniques, so why not help the guys in your life with three easy solutions for scalp, lips, and face? These DIY recipes make it easy.
THE BEER RINSE
The six-pack in the fridge doubles as a shiny hair treatment! A beer rinse is one of the easiest ways to reinvigorate dull, lifeless locks.
Ingredients:
1 can of beer, room temperature (any brand do)
Directions:
After cleansing your hair with shampoo, pour the room temperature beer over wet locks. Massage the brew into your scalp for a few minutes, then rinse and condition.
THE MINT LIP BALM
Sticky, tacky lip products are not a man's best friend. But a moisturized, minty-fresh mouth? That's a staple every guy (old or young!) needs.
Ingredients:
1 Tbsp beeswax
1 Tbsp shea butter
2 Tbsp sweet almond oil
10 drops of peppermint oil
Directions:
In a double boiler or heat-safe bowl, melt the beeswax, shea butter, and almond oil together. Once they liquify, remove the ingredients from the heat. Add the peppermint oil, then pour into empty metal tins. Let the balm cool completely, and enjoy!
THE FOODIE FACE MASK
The way to a man's heart is through his...skin? Try this simple face mask for a complexion treatment that's okay to snack on.
Ingredients:
1 banana, very ripe
1 Tbsp honey
1 Tbsp orange or lemon juice
OPTIONAL: Almond meal or raw oatmeal
Directions:
Mix all of the ingredients in a bowl and apply a thick layer onto your skin. Massage for one or two minutes, then let the mixture sit on your face for 10 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water.
