Beauty Product Reviews
Takes a few good coats
I purchased Bold Gold, Wine and Dine, and the Cracked black polish. The winner of those was Bold Gold, which was a perfect gold color that applied well and looked vibrant on the nails. Wine and Dine was a close second, but took at least two coats or more to look solid. A little streaky as well. Unfortunately the Cracked black polish was a POS to put it nicely. Used it over a painted nail and it just made it black. Chunked it in the trash after a couple more tries with different polish and then no polish at all. Even put acetone in it as a last ditch effort and it STILL didn't work. So I'd say there is a huge variance between the different shades and its a gamble. They dry quickly. A cheap alternative, but you get what you pay for.
Great for those strapped for cash
I bought this kit on Amazon.com after looking around and reading reviews of NYX's shadows and makeup quality. The little pots are about the size of a dime, but they're so pigmented, there isn't much need to load the brush so you get your money's worth. (20 USD plus shipping.) In the middle are large square pots of commonly used colors like gold, white, black and brown. The golds are my particular favorite, as they are not just slight variations of the same color. One is a more rose gold, while the other is a almost bronzer like gold. I suppose you could use it as a bronzer if you wanted to. The half star I took away was because the "face" colors that they say can be used as blush are really just tiny garish variations of red and pink glittery shadows that I have yet to use. It might be useful to someone who really likes pink and red shadows but I'm not that daring I guess. For such a low price the amount of looks you can achieve is amazing, and the quality is very good, and I can't stress that enough. I recommend this to anyone who likes a variety of looks and doesn't want to break the bank.
Not that impressed
For the price I expected this to work a lot better than it did. The smell was great, and the salt scrub was interesting, but with oily hair, it just made things oilier quicker. I ended up using it every day that week because it just made my scalp overcompensate the dryness caused by the salt by secreting more oil. I used it all up in about a month, and notice no real difference in my hair besides the smell. I had read awesome reviews but it just wasn't worth the steep 30 dollar price. No thanks.
Sets your gums on fire
I'm sure it does it job as a whitener, but I couldn't stand to keep it in my mouth longer than a few seconds. I don't know if I'm allergic or just have sensitive gums but I felt like someone lit my mouth on fire! It was worse than a tooth ache! I have very healthy teeth and gums so it came as a surprise and I am not hesitant of the quick and easy teeth whiteness because of this. It works for some, but definitely not for me.
Creamy and useful
This product is what made me fall in love with NYX's products. Very useful, as a primer, as a mixable shadow and I'm sure it has other uses as well. I also have it in black bean, which I don't use as much but apply with an angled brush along my lash line. The only complaint I have would have to be with the largeness of the stick it comes in. I didn't have a sharpener that would work with it, so I had to resort to a sharp knife and whittling, which I suppose is fine, but a little inconvenient. I've read some people melted it in the microwave and poured it into a pot, but I am not really willing to possibly ruin my appliances this way nor do I have anything suitable to put it in, so whittling was my choice. I heard you can buy a sharpener from NYX that fits it, but I digress. The product is very creamy and I found myself using it quite a bit when I needed to lighten a shadow along the brow bone. I would totally recommend it, and if you can, try and find the sharpener they sell as well. It would have saved me a lot of time if I had thought to buy one.
Smells great but overall a waste
I am not a huge fan of gel shaving creams, so I gave this a try. It smelled good and I figured lotion would be good for moisturizing. I have never cut myself shaving more with any product than I have with this. The fact that it doesn't foam is fine, but you need a lot more of it than you would with a gel cream. I used just about all of it very quickly. Also the pump system doesn't deliver all the product in the plastic bottle. I had to open it up to use what was sticking to the sides. I loved the smell, but it's just a hassle to use this product. I didn't notice much moisturization and I didn't get a very close shave like I expected. What a disappointment!
One of the lucky ones
I don't have oily lids and the base matches my skintone, so it works well for me. I see it causes problems for other people, but I like it and use it often. So if you have oily eyelids, stay away, but if not, it does a good job.
Lasts well and goes on easy
The foundation is matte and comes with an easy applicator so I don't have to stand there and shake glass bottles like ketchup to get the foundation out. Works and blends well.
