Well worth the price - great colors

Lately, I've been on a "try the drugstore brand" kick. I've been experimenting with growing out my nails instead of acrylics as well.

I adore OPI polish ~ I've had trouble with Sally Hansen and with Revlon Polish. The OPI colors are beautiful and long lasting. No one does Pinks like OPI. I also use the Nail Envy which has really helped my peeling, thin post acrylic tips nails.

Weird Color

The formula is fabulous and if you apply it as directed it will last and last and last. I actually took a nap wearing another shade (Petal) and was pleasantly surprised that it was still on.

This color is weird - it looks kind of coral in the tube and pink when applied but it turned a weird orange color after a little while. I tried it with primer and without primer with the same results. I'm not writing the product line off - but I'm going to stick with Petal and not experiment with other colors.

Don't be fooled by the price...

okay - I will admit here and now that I have been fairly slow to catch onto the idea that there are less expensive alternatives to products I've used forever.

I am fierce about replacing my mascara - I actually put labels on tubes and replace every three months. DiorShow was my favorite brand until I picked up Sephora Waterproof and NYX Doll Eyes on a whim.

NYX Doll Eyes was a really pleasant surprise - actually beyond pleasant! My lashes look long and lush and the black is really really black. The ultimate test: I used DiorShow on one eye and NYX Doll Eyes on the other ~ then asked my Geek husband if he could see any di credence... He could not! I'm sold.

My Favorite!

NARS is my goto brand. I adore the Matte Lip Pencils and although I have most of them, Damned is my favorite (I carry one in my Makeup Bag, have one in my travel bag and then one with my makeup) I use it regularly.

The color is rich, long lasting and unlike a lot of other lip pencils - the color stays put no bleeding.

The Perfect All In One Pallete

For my trip to Maui I decided to give up on the train case full of makeup and to pick / pack products that were multiple-function.

This palette really did the job. The colors are lovely, I used the Stay Don't Stray primer and the colors stayed fresh looking until I removed the eye makeup at night.

Also, between the instructions and the Benefit How-To Video on YouTube this palette is really goof proof. It has found a permanent spot in my travel makeup bag.

Great Matte Look - Stays On... BUT

I bought (400) on impulse at Ulta a few ays before I left for Maui. I figured that the price point ($8.99) made it a throwaway if I hated it.

I adored the color and I was really pleasantly surprised by the lovely matte look and how long the color lasted. I actually returned a Stila stain I'd purchased at Sephora ~ and bought 5 other colors to take on my trip.

Then... I was disappointed when every single color dried up after a couple of days. I picked up a couple of NYX jumbo lip pencils to get me through the trip and tried the *fixes* on the Covergirl site to remoisten the stains.

Longer story short... I called Covergirl, they sent me coupons to replace the stains and I am giving them another shot. Keeping them inverted in a pencil cup seems to be helping.

They are not a replacement for my beloved Nars Lipstains - but they are a great cheap backup.

7.14.11 Edit: No love on the Lipstains. Great colors, great stains but they go dry very quickly.

No one does blush like NARS

Rather than write reviews of all the colors I'll hit the highlights.

Orgasm - I read about the color in Allure and was fairly skeptical that it was a shade that I'd be able to wear. I was pleasantly surprised!! The color gives me a lovely fresh wash of color that is very flattering.

Angelika - Another gorgeous color that is incredibly flattering without looking like I smeared bubblegum on my cheeks. It's an age thing - some pinks just need to be avoided.

This could get really long... I have all the colors currently available. Some I use with the Nars Multiple and others just to highlight. The product is really, really well pigmented and last all day.

Great Drugstore Mascara

I used this as my backup Mascara (I was addicted to Dior Show) until a couple of weeks ago when I forgot to pack it and picked up NYX Doll Eyes Mascara which I am now absolutely in love with.

Great, great mascara - doesn't smudge or get clumpy and the Black is a gorgeous Black.

Second Favorite Primer - Great Product!!

This would be my all time favorite primer if I hadn't picked up Benefit's Stay Don't Stray.

Eyeshadow doesn't crease or fade, stays all day and it really eliminates that creepy crepe thing that I've discovered happens the moment you turn 45. :)

It can be fairly oily - but I always apply Makeup Forever powder MicroFinish Powder after I apply my primer so it's not an issue that I've faced.

Wow I was REALLY disappointed with the quality

This palette, along with several other products I purchased from Coastal Scents were really a disappointment.

I didn't like the way the eyeshadow felt on my skin, the colors were highly pigmented but faded very quickly. I am not a huge fan of the return of colors I wore when I was in my 20's - which limited the colors that actually appealed to me as well.

I gave the palette away to my tween niece to play with.
