Beautiful creamy black, but smudges too much for my taste.

Smolder is a really gorgeous and intense inky black. It applies really well on the skin and is perfect for smokey and dramatic eye looks. Unfortunately, on my oily eye lids, it smudges. A lot. Even with Urban Decay's Primer Potion as a base. I think it's because black liners just have more pigment, or perhaps they are more oil-based than the lighter colors?

If you don't really have an issue with oily eyelids or you just like the smudgy, grungy look, then this is a great product for you. Use Smolder to line the upper and lower lash line, then take a smudger brush like the MAC 219 or NARS Smudge brush and smoke the product, blending away from both lashlines. Use Smolder to line the lower waterline of your lashes for an intense sultry look. Top with waterproof mascara and you're good to go for a night out!

Pretty Golden olive kohl

Rosemary & Thyme is a really beautiful golden olive shade shot through with gold shimmer. The texture is creamy, smooth, and never tugs or skips on my eyelids. For $14.50 you get a pretty long eye pencil which will last you at least a year with pretty heavy use.

This golden olive shade makes my eyes sparkle and brings out their olive gold bits. Even though this is technically an eye liner, I love smudging this and blending it out all over the lid with a beigey-gold eye shadow over the crease and brow bone. Otherwise, I love smudging it around the eyes with a taupey green toned shadow (Try MAC Sweet Sienna Pigment) on the lid for a subtle smokey green look.

Gorgeous golden brown pencil

Teddy is a stunning rich chocolate with copper undertones, shot through with gold shimmer. It feels really creamy on, and for some reason, doesn't smudge as much as the other MAC Kohl's I've tried. Perhaps it's because most of those have a black base and this is a lighter color overall. I love wearing this on the lid as a base for bronze eye shadows (especially MAC Mulch eye shadow). It brings out the gold in my eyes and is PERFECT in summer paired with a shiny coral lip gloss (I love Chanel Glossimer in Sirop). This is such a unique and pretty shade and is definitely worth a look, for every eye color.

Deep brownish burgundy with plum shimmer

The name says it all. Prunella does remind me of the shade of prunes: brownish, plum-ish, burgundy-ish, all with a hint of plum shimmer. It applies creamy and smoothly and is a nice subtle compliment to my brown eyes. I love wearing it on the lashline smudged up with a shimmering neutral wash (like Stila Starlight eye shadow or MAC Shroom). The lasting power isn't excellent, but if I keep it on the upper lashline and away from the lower outer corner, it stays on better. It's not a totally unique color to have, but it's a nice quick pencil to line eyes when you're in a hurry. I think this would look way better on different colored eyes, the plum would pop on blue eyes! It's $14.50 for a long pencil that will last a long time, even with daily use. Give it a shot at the counter and see if this is the shade for you. It didn't necessarily work on me, but it's a solid product, nonetheless.

Tarnish, gorgeous shade, not the right product for me

Tarnish is a stunning blackened green shot through with subtle shimmery green overlay. When I line my eyes (upper lashline, lower lashline, and waterline), it creates this stunning and INTENSE cat eye look, and brings out the green in my eyes. The texture is smooth and creamy and it never tugs on my skin when I apply it. It makes a perfect base for a green smoky eye as well. Unfortunately, the lasting power just isn't there, and that's to be expected of this product. It's a kohl, so it's supposed to be smudgy and creamy. I guess I just like the look of intentionally smudging a product, not having it happen on accident. If you like the rocker look, this is a great product for you. It's priced at $14.5, and the pencil should last you at least a year, making this a good purchase for a high quality product.

Smudgey blackened blue

MAC Blooz eye kohl is a blackened blue shot through with very subtle blue shimmer. It makes a great eyeliner for the smudgy and smoky look, but don't expect it to have the precision, of, say, a MAC fluidliner. I have the curse (or blessing) of oily eyelids, so nothing lasts on them without an eye primer (I use Urban Decay Primer Potion). Even with a primer, however, this liner just smudges too much on the outer corners of my eyelid :/ It's a shame, because the deep black/blue color gives major drama to my eyes that isn't the typical flat black shade. In terms of texture, it is smooth and creamy, and never tugs my eyelid. I recommend this if you absolutely love the smudgy smoky eyes...this is, after all, called an eye KOHL.

Excellent low-end liquid liner

I was on the hunt for a cheaper substitute for Lancome's awesome 'Art Liner' Liquid Eye Liner. Great product, but at around $27, I needed a less expensive alternative. I'd heard raves about L'Oreal's liquid eye liners so I decided to give it a show. I believe I spent around $7, and the product lasted me for 9 months with basically daily use, not bad right?

The felt tip is really thin and smooth; my lines were crisp and clean! It was easy to fix mistakes I made and take the product off with basic makeup remover. It showed up as a shiny and rich pigmented black on my lashline that made my brown eyes pop!

SWATCH: Royal Wink

Absolutely, hands down, one of my favorite makeup products....EVER. And I've tried many products.

This bright, almost neon royal blue simply transforms my eyes when I wear it on the lower waterline. It gives it a dramatic oomph without the harshness of a deeper eyeliner. It makes wearing neon color, classy!

Mostly, I wear it on the lower waterline, but sometimes I line my upper lashline and add loads of mascara for a fun look. In the photo, I pair Royal Wink on the lower waterline, and smudge a copper-red-orange on the lower lash line. Because these are complementary colors, they both simultaneously make each other brighter, resulting in a truly mesmerizing effect that got me loads of compliments :)

I'm not sure if this product is discontinued or not, but if it isn't and you like bright color...GET THIS NOW. It's long-lasting, a beautiful color, and high quality.

SWATCH: Blacktrack

I'm obsessed with MAC Fluidliners, and gel liners in general. I love that it has the precision of liquid liner with the softness and color selection of pencil liners.

Their quintessential black shade, 'Blacktrack', is no exception. It's a pure inky deep black that works with literally anything I own. It can be used simply as upper lashline eyeliner, on the lower waterline for a sultry cat eye, or even smudged on the lid as a base for smokey eyeshadows to stick it. It's a hard worker in your makeup wardrobe and it will perform! Usually I do upper lashline winged eye liner (photo) on more dramatic days with a MAC 263 brush. It seems in the photo that it transfers to the upper lid, but that was because I literally globbed on way too thick of a line with my brush to realize. You only need a thin layer of this product to achieve maximum pigmentation, and it can be easily layered and taken off with basic makeup remover. This product doesn't smudge (unless you intentionally smudge it yourself), and will last all day. At around $15, this product will last you a year, but make sure to seal the jar tight to preserve shelf life. Definitely recommend

Favorite deep blue eyeliner

I am totally obsessed with MAC's 'Waveline' Fluidliner. It's a beautiful inky deep sapphire blue that completely makes my eyes POP! Since my eyes have some warm/amber bits in them, the blue complements the amber and intensifies them.

This product is smooth and goes on like a dream. I apply it with MAC 263 or 266 brush (depending on how thick of a line I want) The fluidliner lasts all day on me —no smudging or smearing!

I love wearing this deep blue with white, gray, black, taupe, violet blue, magenta, even chartreuse (similar to the look of NARS Rated R Duo). Try it out with many shades, you'll be surprised at how wearable it is for a colored eye liner!
