I have tried applying this foundation every which way possible. This is by far my favorite method of applying it!
-With my Sigma Sigmax F80, it seemed to apply it thicker in some areas. I also couldn't get it "buffed" in as well. (Which is insane because the F80 has never failed me on ANY kind of foundation!)
-With my MAC 130 it would take me FOREVER to finish my whole face with just 1 layer... And since I like the coverage of 2 layers (with this foundation) it just wasn't going to work for everyday application... It also left my face a little streaky, which is easily fixed with the damp sponge technique.
-With a damp sponge it was OK... but just "OK". It applies it in much thinner layers, which is great if you only want medium coverage. For me, it's very hard to acheive FULL coverage using the wet sponge technique (that's with ANY foundation).
-Using just my fingers was good for my "running late to work!" days. But I would always notice one spot here, or one spot there, that could have used better blending in... Once this foundation is set with powder, it was pretty difficult to remedy the blending problem.
This foundation is medium coverage, but buildable to full coverage. So 2 layers of foundation may not work for everyone. I personally have a lot of acne scarring, so I am much more comfortable going out with full coverage. With the finger method + finishing with the damp sponge I find gives me the best full coverage ever! Without being cakey AT ALL, and without looking like I have 2 layers of foundation on... LOVE LOVE LOVE this foundation!
