(Watch other shaving videos to get some more tips)
INTRO
- greetings Wizker Warriors I'm the Wizker Man, and this is my special guest: the "Wizker Mannequin" and together we're gonna finally teach you how to shave!
Should I shave?
- This isn't general shaving advice: This advice is geared towards bump-prevention
- Wet Shave
- Dry Shave
Waxing, Trimmers, Epilation
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
STEP ONE: Gathering & Cleaning the Tools
- disposable Razor
- DE Razor
- Clippers
- shaving brush
- shaving brush bowl
- scrub brush
- shaving creme
- Wizker brush
- towel
- Cleaning Clippers
- Cleaning Razor Blade
5. THOU SHALT NOT USE DIRTY BLADES!
Using a blade that's been used way too many times. Yes, this one may be obvious, but be sure to keep your used tools as clean as possible. Soap and rubbing alcohol will destroy bacteria. Rinse the razor under a running stream of hot water rather than in a standing pool in the sink or bowl.
2. HONOR THY DELICATE SKIN!
Too many blades! If you are prone to ingrown hairs then you don’t need 3 or more blades.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
STEP TWO: Body area prep
Body Prep
- warm/hot water prep (5 mins).
- shaving creme (no foam or bubbles)
- leave the shaving creme on for more than 3 minutes to really soften the hair.
- hair stubble should literally fall away with little or no pressure at all.
- Pressing hard is the problem!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
STEP THREE: Wet & Dry Shaving
- Do you ACTUALLY have RB & IH? Razor Burn Bumps
1. Disposable Razor Shaving & DE Shaving
2. Electric Clipper Shaving
- Wet Shave only Following a warm/hot shower! dry shave whenever
- If Your beard is long, shave it down to a shadow length before a closer razor shave.
- Replace blade after 5 or more uses.
- Start at a ninety degree angle then roll down to a 30 to a 45 degree angle as you shave
- Face Mapping
1. THOU SHALT NOT PASS!
Too many quick passes with the blade. One pass per hairy area – going 1-2 inches downward at a time – will prevent ingrown hairs. Always shave like you might cause damage, not like you're mowing the front yard lawn.
- Re-Lather If You Want To Re-Shave
3. THOU SHALT NOT PRESS!
Pressing too hard on the skin with the blade. A gliding, light touch is all you need. This is likely your biggest issue.
8. THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT OVER SHAVING!
Shaving too many times. This rule is hard to follow especially if you have to shave for your career but if you are prone to ingrowns, try shaving with an electric clipper. The results are not super close but no one but you will know the difference. Ladies, try waxing.
9. THOU SHALT NOT GO AGAINST THE GRAIN!
Shaving against the grain. Shave in the direction of hair growth (usually down, but perform a face map to be sure).
- Rinse with hot or cold water?
- Don't store the razor blade in the bathroom. Unless you close the toilet lids each time you flush, airborne bacteria
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
STEP FOUR: Post Shave (live)
- After the first 24 hours of hair removal, Exfoliate daily in or immediately after a hot shower.
- Avoid thick, skin/pore clogging cremes or lotions. These keep hairs from growing up. After a shave, keep your skin bare; let the tiny army breath, and allow those newly shaved, really small, microscopic hairs to grow out just in time for the next shave.
- Remember to exfoliate daily. Not enough exfoliation to remove excess layers of skin. Use a skin care brush for razor bumps as directed. Brushes also tease the hairs away from entering the skin.
- Don't suffocate your skin! Avoid tight fitting clothing around the Adam’s apple (neck) and/or below the waistline region.
