Sometimes it has to do with the mascara wand having too much product at first so before you wipe the mascara on your lashes, wipe some excess product in a tisu.

When you use it do not put the mascara wand twice in it or it will makes clumps.

UD Perversion, YSL Babydoll, Too Faced Better Than Sex, Maybelline Colossal & Great Lash are great options. I always keep a lash comb on hand (I like the Real Techniques one) to separate lashes even more :)
