Is it true that you can use the electric pallet as hair chalk? If so how do I do it?

You can use any eyeshadow as hair chalk, just rub it on and hairspray.
But the electric palette is expensive so I feel it'd be a waste, hair chalk is like 10$ for like 30 colors. I got one with 50 shades for 15$ on groupon.
