I don't see much talk about Mary Kay products. They are #1 in customer loyalty I guess. Would love your opinion. Type in beautylish in notes and I will give 20% discount on my site: www.marykay.com/ldromgoole. If you know a consultant that is fine too, I just want opinions from people who have used it!!

My high school bf's mom sold Mary Kay so I haven't tried their products for a while, but I've tried a lot of them. They were good! I think the only thing holding back MK is the image that's presented with it. It's hard to convince girls to buy it when MAC Coroprate are clearly marketing geniuses!

Angela, I completely agree. It's what held me back as I just thought of it as an old lady type of makeup. But I'm really blown away by their products and company. It has been life changing (I look great, and the opportunity to work with company is AMAZING). The company empowers women in so many ways. MK uses top notch ingredients, no cancer causing ones... MAC I've heard is good stage makeup but not so great for the skin. I used to use a few of their products.

I guess the consultants are the big turn off for Mary Kay. It's just so annoying that you start thinking the company is annoying. Anyway, as far as makeup goes, it is ok. I mean, the colors are not crazy and stuff, but I still think they're ok for everyday looks. Now, if we talk about skin care... oh, man, that's what Mary Kay is good at! And maybe that's also one the factors that make MK more turned to older consumers, because teenagers don't tend to spend a little bit more money on skin care, but rather on make up. As for myself, I started using MK 5 years ago (OMG, I just did the math... I'm old!) when I was 19 and I was not the typical teenager who wears loads of make up. Actually I used no make up at all except the occasional black liner - and that was it. As I was dying to achieve a nice skin and finally gave up to the insisting neighbor (a consultant) to test some MK products, I actually found them good enough to invest my money - and here I am, loyal customer after trying lots of different brands.
Anyway, in short: MK should focus on how good it is for the skin!!!!!!!!

I was a marykay consultant...i tried but it just didn't work for me...To be honest i do not like the makeup...but the skincare line is really good. I've tried their skin line and it did improve my skin completely. Because the price range is kinda of expensive i have not stock up but if i had $90 bucks to spend on MK skin care i def will. =)

I like AVON better because they have that mark collection :]. I'm sure Mary Kay has great skin care products though. No doubt

I discovered Mary Kay with my step-mom, and she loved it so she started selling it! I've tried many products from them: concealer, foundation, moisturizer, eye shadow, blush, lipstick, etc. I think they're awesome! I wasn't too pleased with the foundation because it felt too heavy on my naturally good and clean skin. I guess I couldn't do a review on my blog for you guys! If I do, I'll come back and give u the link!
But honestly, their products are worth giving a try.

Well, you win some and lose some with every brand. The make up is pretty good, but I agree the skin care is FANTASTIC. I used to have oily blackhead blah skin. Now I don't even need to wear foundation etc., I look fine without it thanks to their miracle set. microdermabrasion stuff and even complexion set. I feel pretty again (after 2 kids and 20lb weight gain, that is saying something!). Put 'Beautylish' in notes and I'll give you 20% off, free shipping and free samples: www.marykay.com/ldromgoole

I love love love Mary Kay products! My mom sells them so I have tried most of the products and they all work great! I especially love the ultimate mascara it gives your lashes length and volume! Another product that I love from Mary Kay is the oil-free hydrating gel it is my favorite moisturizer, they also have very goood smelling perfumes like thinking of you and bella belara, their makeup remover is on the best sellers list also!

I am a consultant, although not an active one. I typically buy for myself and for friends and family if they need anything. I think the products are great. I do love the skincare the most.
I agree with most of you in that the tactics of the company are a bit annoying. That was a total turn off for me! Obviously they are very successful with their current marketing; however I think their customer base would grow even more if they changed some things to cater to the "younger" crowd.

I like the Mary Kay acne toner a lot, and my mom used to sell Mary Kay for a bit. :)

My experience with Mary Kay....
I was hired by Corporate Mary Kay to do a promo job with Seventeen Magazine (video about it here > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xi43L4nz4jM)
Prior to this job I had no experience with Mary Kay products. Corporate sent me their entire line of cosmetics and brushes for me to play with before the event. The event consisted of me doing roughly 75 makeovers as it was an all day event. With that said, you can become VERY familiar with products in doing that many makeovers.
I can honestly say that Mary Kay products are horrible, for many different reasons. There are two products worth checking out: the makeup remover and the lip liners. Everything else was awful. Let's just say I'm glad they didn't pay me in product.
Beyond that, their sales people are very pushy. There are very few that are not pushy. You would think a company that has been around as long as Mary Kay has would put some more effort into their products. But it just goes to show you all they care about is really getting more people to sign up to be representatives, that's all that company is about anyway. It's a pyramid scheme. Sorry for the harsh words, but from a professional makeup artist standpoint, my experience with MK was not a good one.

Lauren C,
Are you referring to all the products or just make up? You're saying you had to do makeovers during ONE day, so I guess you're talking about make up. Anyway, like most people here said, as far as make up goes, MK is really not great. I don't think the products are horrible, though, I just think they're targeted not to colors, long lasting, etc, but to SKINCARE, so I don't feel the make up feeling heavy nor caused me any allergies. But, as said before, MK is really about skincare, so the products related to that (with wich you absolutely cannot afford to do a makeover in just one day, imagine 75!) are good, very good. I haven't tried any high end lines such as Sisley, La Mer and so on, but I do have some experience with Clinique to say that MK is good and worth the price.
And yes, about the last paragraph, I agree. Their marketing strategy is a big turn off and they are concerned about getting more representatives.

Hi Lizzy! I have used Mary Kay on and off for years. I used to be a consultant as well. Customer loyalty is a great quality to have but I think it needs to be coupled with competive pricing and great products that the majority can benefit from. I used the Time Wise Skin Care System for about a year and then noticed my skin was not reacting the same to the product so I switched. Some of my friends have said the products causes skin irration but that was never my problem. Most recently I have been using Mary Kay's Sunny Citrus lip color with the Melon Sorbet Gloss on top and I love it. As I get older (I'm 43) I find myself moving towards products with natural ingredients and not chemicals. Mary Kay has done some very innovative things over the years to stay competitive in this market. One last thing, I noticed that if I attempt to order product on line you have to do it from a Mary Kay consultant. This was a negative for me b/c I don't want to be "bothered" by someone every month when they want to meet their monthly sales goals. Overall, Mary Kay is a reputable line. Stay with it and good luck.

Thanks Kim - I'm not out to drive a pink catellac anytime soon (or ever) but it's kind of fun. I am not building a team either, it just merely pays for my own skin care as I usually put what I make into buying something for myself. Their glosses just ROCK. My mom is going through Chemo and nothing has worked on her lips but the Mary Kay nourishine line, and their extra emollient cream. Anyways, thanks everyone for your $0.02!

Guys your so stupid if you think mk is horrible it also depends wear live and wear you get the make up from it might be bad mk is very natural so for some people it might not be the best but mk is wonderful and for photoshoots they have to use like a more thicker and creamer make up
