Hi, I just got a new makeup brush kit and it has a duo fibre brush... Some people recommend using the duo fibre for foundation, but i usually use the flat foundation brush. Which one do you guys use, recommend and why...

A flat foundation brush can be a little streaky. The duo fibre gives a really airbrushed finish. A lot of people use it by buffing their foundation, but you can actually use it to stipple as well. You just get the foundation on the white tips only and dab all over your face (not going in circular motions). This method will give you really full coverage where as buffing it will give you a more sheer application...but both look really nice =]

i love the duo fibre brush for blending foundation. with the stiff flat foundation brush, i find that the foundation gets a little streaky so i would always have to go back to blend it out. with the duo fibre brush, it allows you to blend out very well to a flawless finish. also you can use just a little bit of foundation and blend it all out. i found out that i've been using a lot less foundation when i use the duo brush. i say try them both and see how you feel, cause each person is different. you might end up liking your flat brush a lot better than the duo fibre brush. hope this helps :)

I tried using a duo fiber brush but it pretty much ate all my foundation and I had to blend it out with my fingers anyway. Now I use my flat powder brush from elf. It blends amazingly and I can get more foundation use out of it.

I love sigmas flat top kabuki brush F80. You buff on any liquid foundation and it leaves absolutly no streaks. It is like an airbrush finish.

i can't get a flat foundation brush to work for me. a stippling brush that isn't dense enough or is too big can leave your foundation uneven or streaky. i much prefer the f80 too or even my fingers!

Sigma's F80 is great for foundation. I brought a back up about 2 weeks ago.

The F80 provides a full coverage finish. Since it's not as floppy as the MAC 187, it wastes less product as well - most of it goes on your face VS. being gunked up in your brush. Also, because it is so dense, it makes sure the entire area of contact between the brush and your skin is covered in product. Stippling brushes like duo-fiber brushes can give you a splotchy effect that looks like fireworks on your face w/ foundation.

I generally dislike anything that touts itself to be anything it isn't... Sigma really turned me off with it's "MAC" dupes, but since these are their own signature line of brushes - they REALLY perform well. I was turned onto them by www.inmykit.com when looking for brushes, and I have yet to regret any purchase I've made based on their recommendations. Hope that helps!  =)

Flat foundation brushes will give a streaky texture if you're using too much product. Less is more, thin layers works a lot better than trying to sweep on too much at once.

Duo-fibre can give a nice finish, but you can easily go through a lot of product by applying too much pressure and having the natural (dark) fibres grab the foundation.

It all depends on your technique & the finish you're after.

The type of brush I use depends on the foundation I want to use. I own both a flat foundation brush (Studio Tools one from Target) and a Sigma F80 (for stippling/buffing).

The two foundations I use most often are Maybelline Fit Me and Illamasqua Light Liquid Foundation. For the Maybelline one, I prefer a flat foundation brush. For the Illamasqua one, I prefer the F80. That said, though, I've also applied both with my (clean) hands.

I love using a flat foundation brush. So easy. & It works good! But duo fiber will give you more of an airbrushed finish. Try both and see what ya like :)

I have several foundation brushes but ever since I got the Sigma F80, I haven't used any of the others. The F80 is synthetic so it doesn't absorb the foundation.

I use a duo fibre brush for my liquid foundation. I use a flat top brush for my loose mineral foundation.

It all depends on what foundation you're using and what finish you're going for.
