I agree with all of the above as you really need to re-condition your hair if you want good results. However, I would also suggest that you try henna- it's natural and so not at all harsh which is exactly what you need right now. Also, it's more of a rich tint so you can use it every time you wash your hair until you achieve the right colour and your tresses are in better condition. I used this treatment system on a friend of mine over the course of a month and it worked wonders. Also, henna tends to look less "dyed" and obvious so it's perfect if you are trying to return to your natural colour. :-)

Also, just thought I would add that I have tried all sorts of brands of Argan Oil and it does work very well. HOWEVER, I can honestly say that pure olive oil is just as effective and is much less expensive. I have alot of hair so I can slather all of my locks in it without worrying about the money!

As far as keeping the brown from fading, you need to use a protein filler on your hair before you dye it. If you don't fill your hair, any color will essentially wash right out. You can find protein fillers online or at Sally's. You can buy either a neutral protein filler or a brown one, and those should make the color stick.

Protein fillers are nice but if you use any protein/keratin treatment it can end up being more damaging then when you started. They can easily dry up your hair by sucking out the natural oils and may even cause split ends. So if you do use anything like that, make sure you also deep condition your hair too.

I don't suggest henna if you ever plan on bleaching your hair again... It's sooo hard to lift out of hair without damaging it

Also I would try a good protein conditioner/deep conditioner to use every couple of washes to help build your hair back to health
I like Aphogee reconstructers && joico k-Pak your hair will be sooo soft afterwards!
