Try using exuviance it is a little more expensive then proactive but works way better an is even more gentle on my skin. You should go to sephora or ulta and the staff will help find the perfect cleanser for you

I have heard that Proactiv is very drying as well. The UNBLEMISH line from Rodan + Fields provides clinical results without a prescription but is gentle and not drying at all.

I've used proactiv now for about 10 years and I stress all the time and I NEVER break out. I have normal to dry skin (usually more on the dry side, esp. now) and use a moisturizer (Mary Kay timewise for normal/dry skin) after. I will say I wash my face religiously - I always wash my face morning and night and never skip. I can count on one hand the number of times I have skipped since I started using it. I'd say the only downside is that it dries out my skin even more than it usually is, but with my MK moisturizer I have no problem with dryness. Just like everything else though, results vary with each person and there are so many variables that can affect the outcome. So I say it's worth a shot, but maybe I'm biased seeing how it works for me and I swear by it. Hope this helps you and good luck :)

Proactiv is awful. I tried to stick with it for two months and it only made me worse. My friend had severe acne and it worked for him. So who knows. I've heard mixed reviews.

It works if your acne is not hormonal. A lot of teenagers with hormonal acne use it and say it sucks because it didn't help them. If you look at the testimonials, most of the people on there are at least 20. I would say save your money and try something else if you're younger but if you want to do it why not! It might work wonders for you, who knows :)

I tried it and it didn't work at all. I am now using a super unexpensive cream called "Holy Cream" I bought it in Puerto Rico for $2.49 and it actually works! I just have to wash my face, put some moisturizer on and then the cream and my face is almost flawless now! So go ahead and try to find a hispanic pharmacy or botanical store and look gor it. We call it "Crema Santa".

Proactive does work but it is something that you will always have to continue to use and if/when you do stop using it you may have bad breakouts which was something I experienced. I no longer use that and I'm back to my long time staple Neutrogena.

You can try rubbing a slice of potato on your face and leave the juice work for about 15 minutes then rinse. its working great for me with my normal routine of washing with noxema and moisturizing. I have suffer from adult acne.

Proactiv is not worth it, IMO. I used it in the mid-to-late 1990s, during my teen years, back when it first came out. While it halted any breakouts I had, it also dried out my skin and made it flaky. (I have an oily t-zone but normal skin everywhere else.) And yes, I did use the moisturizer that came with it.
I think I switched to Aveeno pads or the foaming cleanser after that. (I don't use it now, though.)

it depends on your skin type. Proactive makes blemishes more red especially for fair and/or sensitive skin. i used and it kind of worked but it wasn't for me. A few tips i learned that i thought were interesting: don't touch face even with the back of your hand (obviously), don't take hot showers, the steam brings bacteria to the serface and unless you are goin to clean out every single bump it will just sit there. when i went to get my first facial a few weeks ago she said to stay out of the sun but for me i find it helps to dryout zits and pimples (especially for back acne and chest acne) use Aveeno, or your own choice of sunscreen, SPF 15 as a moisturizer to pretect but not block all rays. maybe ask for a Facial for christmas :) and get to know your skin type if you havn't already

No!! I used it and all it did was dry out my skin and annoy the hell out of me. I wouldn't reccomend it to my worst enemy!! Just talk to your doctor about good acne treatments. It's embarrassing but you'll be glad you did.

I've used proactiv before and it just made things worse. if you can afford it I would try murad it works with out all the harshness I use it when I have a bad breakout and it clears it up in a few days.

I know it does work for some people. Some people I know said it was amazing but me and my friends who used it, didnt do anything. I used it for about 2 years too, it's like your skin grows immune to it and when you stop using it your skin breaks out. I have been using retin-A (or retinol-A i don't remeber) to help get rid of scarring. I've dealt with acne for a LONG time and I'm only 16 and the only thing that worked for me was birth control pill which surprised me because I know it doesn't work for everyone. I was so shocked seriously.. (Even though I still have a few small pimples) but a MAJOR improvement
