I tried Neutrogena Grapefruit and it worked for a while and then I switched it up about twice. My skin is now breaking out into little tiny bumps all on my face especially my cheeks. My mom recommends Proactive, but does it really work? I need a product that really works!

It doesn't work miracles, per se, but as long as you're willing to work the routine, it does do a good job. My only warning would be that during the beginning week or so, you may see an increase in acne or bumps on your cheeks... I was told this was simply a reaction to the strength of the chemical (which will happily bleach your favorite towel or sheets if you're not careful) which will clear up by the end of the second week as your skin gets used to it. It was a bit strong (and costly) for me to use long term, but it worked when I needed it :)

Are there any products you would recommend? Like other than Proactive?

proactive is harsh and may work for a bit but when the acne comes. back it comes back worse. proactive is 5% bp which is really too harsh for the skin which is why they came out with the new green tea moisturizer. look in to image skincare they are outstanding and their acne line is amazing. my roomie cannot live without it!

I use a glycolic acid cleanser. It does make your skin bad for about a week, but using it once a day (dove beauty bar the other time) & moisturizer with organic coconut oil.

proactive is super harsh on the skin so it will dry out your skin big time.

I have mild acne and I started the acne.org regime. I have seen so many raves on YouTube about it. But that doesn't mean it will work for everyone. The BP is 2.5 and in gel form so its a lot more gentle. When I first started it it started working but my skin got so dry!!! So I stopped. But then I ordered the jojoba oil and I was using too much of that so I was too greasy. So I decided to start again and just let my face adjust and go through the dry phase. And I am using less jojoba oil in my moisturizer than before an it helps. My skin is still dry but I can tell the BP is helping dry out my acne and I don't get as many pimples as I used to. I used to get like 4 a day ugh. So I will wait this out and hopefully it works. But I love the cleanser- it's ph balanced and even when I wasn't using the BP, it has become my new favorite cleanser.

For me, it worked for a few months. After that, I felt like I was paying all that money for nothing. I use a drugstore face wash now (I forget what brand) but what is really helping is my clairisonic.

Acne Free is a great substitute for Proactive at 1/3 the cost. You can get it at Walmart Cvs target etc

The formula in the UK is different to the US one so doesn't have the same active ingredients and not worth a try x

I would recommend seeing a dermatologist. I have been working for one for years and we had a lot of people that come in that have been using that an it doesn't work that good. Just remember the main ingredient peroxide.

I used it for a few months and for the price it wasn't worth it. I have recently been using all natural organic stuff on my face, like homemade masks and such, and they work just as good on me as proactive if not better b/c my skin became used to proactive after a while and it just quit working

Sometimes, when you switch to a new face wash your skin may breakout at first. Your skin isn't used to the change, it may take up to a few washes for your skin to calm. Although, it could be your face wash as well..Good luck dolll! xxo

Neutrogena products! I broke out a lot in my teens and Neutrogena scrubs helped a lot. I used mine twice a day followed by a moisturizer in the morning, before make up. The redness reducing scrub is great to calm your face down also. Foundation should be one with Salicylic acid which will help prevent breakouts. Hope this helps!

I highly recommend dermalogica, I used proactive and it burnt my skin. I even used it with the instructions. Ever since using dermalogica I won't try any thing else

I ask myself that question frequently. I just started using Proactive again. I used it about 5 years ago and it got rid of my pimples but it dried out my face. Since I just started I've noticed less pimples appearing on my face and its not dry because I use a moisturizer with it. It honestly depends on your skin type and how your skin takes to a product.

I have naturally dry skin. I was told proactiv is for oily and severe acne. If you have dry skin and use proactiv it can do more damage than actually helping it. I use acne free. It's a 3step acne solution that's a lot cheaper than proactiv. Proactiv is crazy expensive and you have to keep paying them monthly. And when you unsubscribe they charge you for another 2months it's just a big mess and a waste of time.
