White vinegar on nails?

I've heard that rubbing white vinegar on your nails before you paint them, (and after nail polish remover) the vinegar helps the polish stay on longer so I'm wondering if anyone can confirm or deny this theory.

It does work but I used apple cider vinegar... It might still work the same.
