I would do something that suits his interests. If he looks sports buy him tickets to his favorite baseball team. If he likes music, bring him to a concert. You could leave him little notes almost like a scavenger hunt saying things like "get in the car and drive until you get to the place where we pick up milk and look under the stone below the oak tree" and such until he reaches his surprise destination. Sometimes all a guy needs is to spend time with his love, so something as simple as a walk down memory lane with a scrapbook, or a jar with all the things you love about him written inside can mean a lot, plus he can keep it forever.

Funny thing! My 2 year anniversary is coming up in a couple of days! Plan a day trip that you both will enjoy. Go to an aquarium (that's what I'm planning lol), go to a museum, sports game, amusement park, beach, anything really! Maybe you live by a tourist attraction neither of you have ever gone to? Or you can plan a romantic picnic in a special spot with candles and champagne and all that! Maybe get a nice hotel room and stay overnight! If you're outdoorsy, go on a romantic hike or go to the zoo. Sorry if I'm rambling lol. Anything you choose to do will be good as long as you spend plenty of time with each other :)

Congrats lake. here is one idea. just give him a surprise. first of all pretend that you are super busy that day in your own work and you are not giving that much importance to this. then decorate the house order a beautiful cake and plan a candle light dinner in your own house with just two of you. surprise him with all these and a beautiful gift for him.

On me and my boys two years we lit a ton of candles and got a bunch of blankets and curled up at watched a movie and made chocolate fondue. We had to work a lot the weeks before and barely got to see each other until our anniversary so just having a relaxing day off was perfect for us :) congrats on two years!

Make something for him. It's more meaningful(:
For me and my man's 2nd yr anniversary, I made a poster board filled with a bunch of or pics of places we went and captions uner them and I wrote him a letter which I stuck on there as well. I also boughyt him shoes because he likes and wanted shoes.
If you were planning on getting him something always pay attention to things he says about what he needs or wants. That way when the day comes he'll be surprised and it shows you actually listen lol(:

Also I do NOT recommend a movie. Me and my man went to the movies for our first year anniversary and it was a waste. Don't risk the chance you guys will end up watching a horrible movie because you'll just be wasting your time when you could be somewhere else being romantic or something lol but bottom line , I recommend no going out to a movie date.

I'm sure you can do something special, but guys usually expect action at the end of the night, thats when you need to work so he doesn't forget. think outside the box..:). goodluck.

Go with what Natalie said!!(:
a scavenger hunt, guys don't like to admit it but they like sweet unpredictable stuff like that.
I showed up at his house without warning and brought him a home cooked meal. (:
something like that would be nice. guys love food, their girl and being surprised time after time(:

Getting him a tool bag and going to the restaurant where you had your first date is definitely a step in the right direction. I think all your missing is something you personally made for him! you could do a PowerPoint cd with pictures and music and stuff (:
