I'm up to get a fill this week and I can't decide if I want to continue with acrylic or switch to gel. I used to get shellac and I hated it so I'm hesitant to get gel but I don't like what the acrylic has done to my nails. I also don't like how it chips or when the nails lift. So which is better?

I prefer gel nails they don't chip for weeks and if you want them off you can take it off the same way as you would for acrylic nails but it doesn't destroy your natural nail as bad as acrylic nails would. This is just my own personal experience but I prefer gel any day that acrylic

I wear false nails the majority of the time as I'm always testing new things on myself first, personally in my experiance on natural nails a shellac colored gel is fine, but for tips and nail extensions, acrylic is much more hard wearing. gel is not as supportive and although doesn't chip, is more prone to splitting and breaking.
my gels tend to last an average of 8days, acrylic more like 15, a lot of people say gel last longer but I just don't get it. maybe mine just don't last long because I'm always doing peoples nails and filing lol! :) xo

Oh and gels really destroyed my nail plate, acrylics never really showed any damage but I suppose this could just be proloned trauma from the nails I wear anyway! try em and see, they might work for you! :)
