So I live in Ohio. My friend and I are looking into school. I am going for nails. She wants to go for Esthetics, but is wondering if they will teach make up in the esthetics course or not?

Do most schools teach make up in esthetics or is it mostly facials and exfoliating etc.?

It'll really depend on the school, if they have the extra time and staff to do it, or if they even provide it at all. I would call them and ask.

You can get an outline from the school on how many hours is spent on makeup. I'm a licensed Esthetician but I honestly can't remember how many hours we spent on makeup but it was only about two weeks. My entire class except two girls were very into makeup and knowledgeable on the subject and we had two makeup artists in our class as well so when we had free time we used to bring out makeup kits in all the time and practice on each other which was nice because we not only learned from our book work and our teacher but also from each other with trial and error & a lot of practice. So I definitely got lucky and my teacher was amazing plus having the girls who are already professional makeup artists helped me learn a lot. I was disappointed to know that in my school makeup wasn't taught for many hours but I ended up learning so much and getting a lot of practice in so even if the schools curriculum doesn't set much time for makeup it doesn't necessarily mean you won't learn a lot. it definitely is partly dependent on the school but also what you put into it. We all were willing to take our own time, sometimes before and after hours to learn and practice more.

If you didn't get your answer from the wonderful girls above , I would ask Ms Jaquelin.

I've checked out a lot of schools. But it also depends what kind she's going for. I was looking into medical aesthetics, and yes they do teach some makeup. I was looking into just estheics and they focus mainly on nails and waxing and some makeup. If you want more in depth makeup I would suggest doing a course specifically on just makeup. Esthetics seems to teach you the basics but nothing too in depth. Like I said these were the places I looked into, I'm sure other places are different.
