Are you getting acrylics just because you have hang nails?
if so, I wouldn't get acrylics until you treat the hang nails. you don't want to risk any infections.
you should definitely keep your cuticles well moisturized and oiled consistently.
that should help keep them away over time.

then definitely just keep them oiled and trimmed as much as possible. I know they say not to cut your cuticles but sometimes you may need to. cuticle creams work well too

make sure you do it at least once a day..and if you can, each time you wash your hands
