If you go for a shimmery eye, skip the lipgloss. If you want gloss, skip the shimmery eyeshadows. Balance mattes with shimmers. Your eye and lip makeup should never compete with eachother. Do you want to go light, glamour, dramatic, or bridal? All could look good with the dress if you're using the right colors, and textures. Let me know what you're looking for :-)

Just saw your comment. I would recommend using maybe a simple black cateye, dark brown in the crease, and maybe a golden brown eyeshadow over the lid. Then go for a nude-pink lipstick- or you can glam it up by using a darker, red-purple lipstick. Curled hair would add a nice twist to the look too.
