Translucide
I have the translucide naturally luminous powder and I think this is the one pictured. You get a lot of powder for your money. I spent $13 on it but I think ya worth it eve though it is way over my usual budget for powder. I have a limit on how much I will spend on makeup and each type of product had its own limit. Powder I usually won't spend over $10. This is a great powder though. I used to use it all the time when it first came out but being fickle as I am, switched after about half of the jar and never went back. I picked it up about 3 weeks ago and have been using it every day.
This is not totally matte but not luminous in the same way that some powders are with little tiny flecks of glitter or shimmer. This just makes your skin look very smooth and takes the shine out of fresh foundation without being very matte. It is more satiny and very natural. The title says it all. I have used this with a couple different foundations and it works equally well with each. I put this over my foundation usually about 8 am and dont have to touch up until about 12:30-1p. Then I am good until I get home and wash my face. It's super fine milled won't sit on your skin and look grainy. I am using the light now and it works for the little tan I have but for winter I will switch to translucent. I don't use Mac so I couldn't give you a shade reference but I am the lightest/warm shade in everything and most brands don't have a shade light enough for me.
Luminoso
This is a beautiful slightly pink peach with a highlight quality. It's so pretty. Not a glitter bomb at all. Just a very pretty natural highlight. The color is amazing for pale/fair skin. Even on some fan skin but on darker fan or African skin I don't think it would show up as a blush but would still make a pretty highlight. This. Lends so easily and isn't at all powdery on the skin. It is so sophisticated and not childish at all. This would also work as a first time blush for younger girls because it is natural and buildable. This one is a ten for me!!
I have the mattifier finisher...
And it's so pretty. This is not truly a totally matte finish. It is actually more of a semi matte/satin finish. It takes out the shine without being dull. It brightens almost as well as the Sonia Kashuk brightening powder that I love love love but hate the packaging. This is my replacement. It goes on very smoothly and evenly. The thing I don't like about this is the packaging...kinda. I don't mind the actual packaging. The brush is really nice. A very good brush so for the price I feel like I get my money's worth, if I could use the brush. I keep this in my purse and so powder gets through the sifter. It's ok though because it doesn't spill out or make a mess. It's very secure even when I open the jar. It's just made well. But what I do is tip a little int the clear lid and swirl my brush around in there. That works great because the lid is tall enough that no product spills out on my clothes. But the lid is too tall to swirl the given brush in it and I can't swirl it in the jar because there is too much product out. That, in my round about "I talk too much" story is my complaint about the packaging. Other than that, I love it.
These suck
First off, the wand is useless. The stick is too long to control, the applicator at the end is also too long to control. I used a smaller brush to take the product off the wand and apply it to my eyes. It was really liquidy and messy and got everywhere. It dries too fast to work with in smaller sections. You have to apply it perfect in the first 2 swipes or you're done. Once they are dry, they flake off like nail polish. They feel heavy and awkward on the lids. The colors are great and pigmented and there's a decent selection. It's just not anywhere near the hassle.
Great concealer
I like his for under my eyes. I don't have blemishes to cover really so I don't use it for that. It works well around my nose though. You really only have to use the teeny tiniest itsy bitsiest little dot of product. The first time I used it, I squeezed out the same amount I would use of my maybelline concealer and I quickly found out I needed less than a quarter of the amount of product. It seems like it would be nothing and would not be enough to cover a freckle but once you start dotting and blending you see it is very pigmented and very blendable. It's like applying it creates more out of thin air. I hope this makes sense. Anyway it covers well and looks good. My only con with this is the pencil. It is a great pencil. Love it but it is so small tiny small too small and they don't sell bigger ones solo either. So boo to that. Otherwise its good stuff.
Irritated my skin
I do not have sensitive skin at all. When I put this on it it made my skin feel irritated and like it was burning a little. Kind of like razor rash. It took anlon time to rub/blend in and didn't leave any kind of luminous effect. Just kind of made me look sick and pasty. When I tried mixing it with my foundation it had a greasy effect. Not for me. I'm bummed. I was hoping this would help with the loreal true match liquid and make it less dull and dry looking. I love the packaging too. The pump works well and I love holding the bottle in my hand. It's cute and slender and pretty. I'll probably wash it out and use it for something else.
A nice surprise.
First I took a star off because of the 3 formulas, each of the color selections is different. The lightest shade in the oil control is darker, by a little, than the lightest in the normal. I wanted oil control so I grabbed it thinking the color wasn't too off and it may work and it does. It is a hair too dark and I wish they had the oil control in the lighter color but oh well. It's not so dark that I can't wear it, or that someone might point it out, but enough for ME to notice.
Now onto the good. First, this blends easily. I use a Sonia Kashuk dense powder brush which is like a smaller kabuki and it blends really well with that. I did NOT need powder to set this. It seton it's own and not in an overly dry cakey way. I didn't have to touch up at all today. I have had it on for 8 hours and it looks the same as when I started. It did not oxidize. The jar says matte finish, I would say its that. It's just not full matte. It has a satin finish for me. A perfect natural finish. I did not get any oily patches around my nose chin or forehead where I usually do. This did control oil. I was so surprised to look in the mirror when I got in my car after work and see good skin/makeup. Usually by the time I leave work and get into the sunlight and look in my rear view mirror I am gasping at how bad my makeup looks and move on to something else. Not this time.
Good color buuuuuttt...
Sticky & hard to blend. The bounce only lasts about 4-5 applications then it feels like glue. If you're using a bolder color, blending will be impossible and it will end up looking splotchy.
Just my first impression
Sooooo, I just picked this up today. I ran home and tried it. Just two things that I want to report and I will probably come back edit this in a couple of days or a week. First; This dries so fast. Faster than the liquid counter part and I thought that was impossible. The second it touches your skin it turns into powder. That kind of contradicts the blendability of this product. Second; The color selection is...I don't even know. I picked the lightest shade, as usual. It looked like t would be too dark in the pan. I was hoping it might dry a little lighter, and it did. Definitely 2-3 shades lighter. Almost chalk white. I am going to have to trade it in for a darker shade, and I never have to do that. I may even need 2 shades darker depending on the gradiance between shades.
