In Love!
Before purchasing I did my research and read reviews. went to a Mac store and tested on my face. a day later went beck and purchased it. this was the best $30 I have ever spent. it does what it says! controls shine, oiliness etc. Thought the day I only use this baby once and I am good. this product does not change your foundation color, and it keeps me looking matte for the day. I highly recommend this product for anyone who has an oily tzone. this is a must have. I cannot go without it and I will definitely repurchase again! FYI...I also recommend getting Mac oil free moisturizer! the power of both together equals... heaven!
MATTE TO PERFECTION!
I bought this product because my skin is very oily and the foundation I was using (NAKED Skin) did not control it. My face would look like I had been sweating after 4 hours. It did not work for that foundation but it works beautifully with my Revlon Colorstay. Not only does it control oil but it gives you the perfect matte look. You can clearly see a difference after using it. It's very light and I only have to apply it once a day. All it takes is one small layer and you are good to go!
Matte, buildable coverage.
I also own the mac powder foundation and their translucid powder, so I figured I'd try a mid-term out. The results surprised me! It is a thin consistency product. One layer is a nice foundation setter, 2-3 layers gives a light-weigh, buildable coverage that goes well with any makeup look. Does NOT look cakey, lasts all day, and covers imperfections ever so slightly. Blots oil. Mac scores again. Again
Only reason this isn't getting 5 stars is because the applicator sponge is TERRIBLE! Other than that I looooove this product for my extra greasy skin. A few dabs definitely goes a long way with this pressed powder. I typically dab it on right after my foundation and I stay grease-free for hours. Thanks MAC! :)
Best on Movie & Photo Sets...
As a Makeup Artist you allways have to touch up on sets of Photoshootings or Movie Productions, but to go there with a loose Powder is the worst idea you could have. The loose Powder will fly on and also into the teniqual equipment and I promiss you will never get booked again. And this is why Blot Powder from MAC is one of the most important items in my set-kit. It will matte the parts you won´t have shine without flying all over the place. Also it will stay on quite long. Highly recommended!
a little of it can matte your face well, good for oily skin!
The MAC Blot Powder does reduce my shininess and oiliness and I think my makeup last better and my Mineralized Skinfinish Natural work better with this powder. This combination gave me a natural glow with reduced shine. You definitely don't need much and currently I don't wear it as much as before. I used to dust it like crazy before when it's actually not necessary, but I learned now.
Generally, I think my skin is less oily than it used to be, even in the summer or when I'm back in Ampang's hot tropical climate *generally my skin improved with age, lol*. I still use this but more sparingly and really that's enough.
I have not got any bad reaction from this and I trust this product. Though this product is a simple science of being heavy with MICA and SILICA which absorbed the oil, as MAC has clearly claimed. So those who obviously have problem with these ingredients, just stay away or use it to your own risk. When I had issue with flaky dry skin I would avoid using this or just use this on tip of my nose *because oily nose tip is never flattering* as I think it's unnecessary. I wouldn't say this powder worsen it though.
One thing I notice, when comparing Medium Dark Blot Powder with the one from Mineralized Skinfinish Natural, it's lighter in shade. So it does not really matches my skin tone and I'm annoyed as it does give off a bit of ashyness after I got the 'perfect' second skin look with my Mineralized Skinfinish Natural. Nevertheless, it is light in texture so it doesn't affect much. Probably if I get my exact shade it looks better? or better, if it's a translucent instead.
The compact is fine, come with a mirror and the price is MAC standard, £20.00. It last long as you don't need to use much so it's worth the spend. Overall I am satisfied with this product but I'm not sure if I want to repurchase it. I would like to try a real translucent powder since I notice the issue *the only one* I had with this. So I will try MAC Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder as that claim to mattify as well.
